whirlwind sprinting to
the flittering keys, I need
to be more, to say more
I need to be the person
they think I can be, a
woman with confidence
an artist, a lover, the
person I always was
under the soot, diamond
in the rough, and
I'm ready to shine.
We all wish to be bigger than ourselves; it's part of being human.

Phenomenological
Can sweeping moths settle,
Sink neatly, swathed by shadow
Onto lightly curling leaf.

On white fluorescent light
They are blinded, and
Are spun in carousel circles.

My light blinds me too,
Keeps my eyes spinning
In carousel circles.

I conceal the brightest parts of myself, as if they’ve lost their worth

Loneliness deepens, days blend.
Phone in hand, heart sinks.
Memories taunt, 'what if' whispers.
Self-worth unravels, sparkle lost, emptiness remains.

which way do you turn
when you don't know what's on either side
of the dessert path
both could be a pool of gleaming water
both could be dry land forever

stuck in indesision
I peer down both walkways
unable to move my feet
with only one day to make my decision,
the clock ticking away

That was before you
wanted
to do anything with us.

That was before I
trusted
you.

That was before I
trusted
anyone.

That was before I
trusted
myself.

That was when I
only trusted
the glow of my laptop in an empty room.
I guess I’m doing better know? But then why doesn’t anyone that I trust talk to me? Reach out first?

The Non-Poet
life is like
when you're
a little kid
and you
discover that
there is more
than twenty-four
crayons in the box
that there is
the possibility
of forty-eight colors
of sixty-four
of one-hundred and twenty
that there are
so many shades
of love and anger and peace and despair
and absolute bliss
and the ability
to express them all
are now
in the palm
of your hand

life is
colorful
beautiful
thought-provoking
lovely
soulful
heartbreaking
inspiring
and absolutely wonderful

every day is
a new sunrise
a new chance
to transform into
the butterfly you
want to be

go out there
and change the world, kid
