“To tie someone down”
Such negative connotation
Like love will always drown
It’s victims, no hesitation

To love is to find
A shooting star while gazing
To burn so very hard
And to fall so very blazing

To love is to be anchored
Kept safe from the strong waves
And never to be wavered,
A torch in this dark place

To be tied down, to be held safe
It’s your choice how you see
Love changes with each person’s gaze
But I know what it means to me

In the twilight’s hush, where shadows play
I’ll hold your words, and cherish every way
You weave a tapestry of love and time
A bittersweet reminder of life’s rhyme

Memories of whispers, laughter and tears
Echoes of moments, through all the years
The velvet curtain, a gentle farewell
A promise of remembrance, that will forever dwell

In the realm’s beyond, where love remains
Our bond will whisper, through joy and pains
Though mortal frames, may fade and decay
In memory’s garden, our love will stay

No social media
Fan or Air conditioning on
Cold drinks standng by in great Thermos
Phones silenced
Hugs that go into the night
Amazing and loving moments
Easy and gentle
You can feel the bond binding
The Sisters in tune,
See familiarity
Permeating the room.
Chatter colliding
Like magpies in Spring
And the dancing of eyes
Is a wonderous thing.

Nurses together
At lunch in the sun
On a hillside Okato
Where the gossip's begun.
A unique sense of humour
Shared amongst they
Who delve, resolutely,
Into lifesaving fray.

A breed of Sisters
Who willingly give
Of themselves for others
So that others may live.

Magnificence here
As the chatter surrounds
While the old world sails on
Unaware of the Crowns...
Crowns, so deserving,
So desperately due....
To these Sisters of Mercy
Who look after you.

For the magnificent coterie of magpies
who gathered together, noisily, at our table this Sunday lunchtime,
All quite oblivious of the deep regard in which, each and every one of them is held by all who dwell in their, Oh so demanding, world of Professional Nursing.
For Annie, Deb, Helen and my darling Janet
All NZRN.
Ella sent the invitation
Louis worked the door
to celebrate between the lines
inflection served du jour

My heart was given freely
their phrasings lined my soul
beyond the words and melody
goodbye to rock and roll

The Saints Were Marching In
as Satch blew his horn with glee
