cold clear winter's night
spooning neath the counterpane
a fever rising
Senryu
do you remember
the sweet love and dreams we shared
back when we were one
a sacrament within our hearts
our love was pure and was strong
we held each other in our arms
we laughed and cried till the end
But now you've gone far away
and we are no longer one
it's sad that our love has died
But I regret none of it
the memories of what we had
the little things and the big
they make me smile, laugh and
sing hallelujah

From his explosions,
Our sun spreads antimatter
Into the cosmos
And orbits around the core
Of the immense Milky Way
To make a low-speed cyclone.

why a poet?
because a poet
hears the words
which sing the
purest harmonies
because a poet
paints their portraits
in pastels
of phrases
because a poet
dances their agonies
into leaps of faith
and pirouettes
of passion
because a poet
sees
the beauty
in the commonplace
and captures
the moment
in a snapshot
of ink and white
because a bloodless world
cuts itself
a thousand times

and the poet bleeds
For my friends here and around the world on World Poetry Day.
