For years I fought something only I could see,
A battlefield etched in the silence of me.
The foe was mine, yet I could not yield,
A fight contained in an unmarked field.

I clashed with shadows that wore my face,
Each strike within left a deeper trace.
Fighting hard just to stand or breathe,
A battleground I couldn’t command or leave.

But time wore thin, the noise fell still,
The air grew thick, the ground unfilled.
No victor crowned, no flag was claimed,
Just ruined trenches and a captive unchained.

Not quite peace, but free from pain,
A quiet place where hope’s restrained.
No joy to chase but tears is no more,
Just steady breathing — after the war.

The places humans go,
Oh where to?
I wan to know.

They run in circles
But never ask why.
They've become brittle
Over time.

And if they paused,
At least just to breathe.
Maybe death's claws,
Wouldn't be a thief.

Of the time they wasted
Chasing their tails.
Have they tasted
The wind at sail?

The places humans go,
Oh where to?
I wan to know.

I really thought we would last
More than eleven months.
I really thought we would spent
Two Valentine's Day together.

I never thought I would lust
Laughing, Talking, fighting,
Teasing, playing, scolding---
Being with him forever.

It ****** me off to think:
He won't be there when I...
And it ****** me off
And I won't lie:
I'll never be ready to say goodbye.

But then I remember, we did try.
The point of the wings meeting the sky,
Wasn't to merely reach for the sun.
Icarus just wanted to fly----
That's how the story really begun.

So when we say goodbye,
I will remember the times we said hi.
And not the times we will not---
I'll give it a shot.
