GENIE May 2020
The lord is my shepherd,
I lack nothing
Though I be the black sheep of the herd,
I fear nothing.
Judgement, death, punishment,nothing
For God is my shepherd, I fear nothing.

You expected the worst from me,
So did i
You never expected such progress
Neither did I

You
Like an unborn moon,
You're always there. Even when
we can't see You shine.

But then, even if we could, would not our vulnerable beings burn to cinders at the sight of Your eternal beauty?

The wine that intoxicates a poet
Are words served in cups called books
Served by stewards called poets.

............wine is served......... Drink as you deem fit................
Wine is served, drink as you deem fit

The pens of our past
Writes the words of our future
In the books of our present

Come see the world through my eyes
Come feel it through me

Here ugliness is more ugly than imagination
But beauty more beautiful than thoughts can be
Here bruises of the soul are a visible blue
For anyone who dares to look closely

You can feel the pain of the broken man
Standing where he lay and bled
Here a papercut is as bad as a gashing wound
But the blood is a brilliant red

Here life is rarely ever fair
You don't get what you give
But you welcome the disappointment with open arms everytime
For to feel is to live

Cedric McClester

The match has now been lit
And the President’s talking ****
But that’s the government we get
When we elect a total misfit
As we look all around
Whole communities are burning down
Although it is unsound
The message is profound

How come you’re asking me,
Why is there so much anarchy?
When none of us are free
Judging by the things we see
Amidst the toil and strife
Another civilian loses his life
And that cuts deep like a knife
For his loved ones and his wife

Common-law, or not
That’s the woman that he’s got
Shedding tears along with snot
Because the situation got hot
For those who read their Bible
It isn’t even tribal
It’s becoming so archival
That it’s a matter of survival

It defies our intellect
Underneath the mere context
Of wondering who’ll be next
When a cop decides to check
And it results in unwarranted death
The mourners are the only ones left
To them it hurts just like a theft
Then all of us become bereft
