The tree dies
but keeps on growing,
The soul dries up
but keeps on crying,
Lovers leave
but we keep on loving.

Our children keep growing,
But we keep on trying.

The mysterious darkness
keeps on descending,
Light will guide our way,
We are gone
but in memories
we live on.

The earth keeps
on spinning
but
we stand so still.

The ash remains
but we keep on
burning.

Everything is lost
but we keep on
finding.

In the place
between dreams
and awakening
everything is remembered
but we keep on forgetting.

The poem is done
but we keep on going,
The poetry is gone
but we keep on writing.

A Poet's Heart

.
A poet's heart isn't like any other...
It's the tears that trickle with radiance through words.
It's a treasure trove that hides but longs to
     be found.
It's a book shelved high that wants to
          be read.
It's the freest of all birds caged but
               unbound...

A poet's heart isn't like any other...
It doesn't beat to the capable strokes of the artist.
It doesn't pump in the most vibrant of
     colours.
It doesn't wield a paintbrush to
          translate its thoughts.
But it can see through the eyes of
               painters...

A poet's heart isn't like any other...
It doesn't conform to the conventional parameters of lyrics.
It doesn't bind itself to the requirements
     of musical harmony.
It doesn't follow the conventions of
          genres.
But it sings its voice loud without
               restrictions of melody...

A poet's heart isn't like any other...
It's an open secret, that whispers in metaphoric codes.
It's an exploding universe, that merges
     back into galaxies.
It's a sought after painting, that boasts
          of unfathomable beauty.
It's an everlasting song, that echoes
               within the poet that embodies...
.
Dedicated to all of you...

If you're reading this...
This is for you...

Bleeding

bones
We danced toward
each other's wounds

with gentle step
and touched inside

and now the bleeding
has resumed

and all this blood
is hard to hide.

Specificity

If she could see what I see, maybe it would make her world more bearable.
Maybe her anxieties would let her breathe and her down days would be less poxy.
I can't begin to imagine what it's like bouncing from explosions of colour to that shade of grey, and for that to be the system.

When she smiles, if she could feel how I feel as an observer - enthralled -
maybe it would reassure her, give her some warmth.
She does nothing by halves and she's learning herself;
I wish she didn't have to do it waiting for the fall.

This is my secret confession
Where I lived a life of deception
Blinded as I was I chose not to see
That all I was courting was just pure controversy

You see I thought that I could juggle both fire and ice
When all I was balancing were just lies
They say I can't have my cake and eat it too
Greedy as I was I chose not to listen even if it was true

In the end I juggled both up high into the sky
Where they disappeared without a goodbye
Now I sit here all alone
All alone with my bag of methadone
This happened a very very long time ago. I was young and so full of myself. Hopefully I'm older and wiser. For the secret confession challenge.

So apparently today is National Compliments Day.
I'd like to compliment Maha Salman.
She is a genuinely caring soul and has such a loving heart and an understanding personality.

Maha, thank you for being such a kind person and listening to me despite my extreme negativity. Thank you for talking me out of starving myself again, and being so compassionate. You mean a lot to me as a fellow poet and person. You are a beautiful friend :)

p.s. ur poetry is amaaazing
idk, apparently it's National Compliments Day, so yeah...
