Once I caught a shooting star...

Yet, I found it far too heavy to hold...
Soonish, I lost its grip,
quickly I watched it slip...
ashamed, not one soul I told...

So, now these days, high's come in waves...
colorful rememories, from those sweet times of old...

Still, if I could; I would rewind back time and tame it as mine...
Maybe it just might have reversed this black hole...

But, as I now know:
as it is -irresistibly hard-
to not try to catch a shooting star...
Perhaps, it's easier just to let it go...

It was on the never-ending summer evenings
when the Earth was still warm from the Sun's embrace.
Do you remember with what fervor we'd run in
and along those endless fields back in those days?

Do you remember back when we'd ride our bikes?
Always downhill to see who got there there the fastest.
Exploring the backyard at night with heavy flashlights,
we got scared but were always quick to act the bravest.

I remember those being the good ol' days,
the ones of which I wish I had more
Yeah, they were the good ol' days,
the days worth living for.

If we ever meet again
the only things I'll have
to show you are the
lighters from our memories,
and the vicious ways
that you've changed me.

Do you remember the moment you first saw him?
When the fairytale ending played over and over again in your head
And you ****** in your breath because you had never seen something so beautiful
And the hands of love gripped your heart so tight you thought you might pass out
Do you remember what it felt like falling in love with him?
When you couldn’t help but smile at him while he did something as simple as load the dishwasher
And your head on his chest was more comforting than your mother’s hugs
And you danced in the kitchen light, bodies pressed together because you couldn’t stand to be even an inch away from him
Do you remember watching the fire fizzle out as quickly as it had started?
When days usually spent with his family became nights where you laid in bed sobbing
And his vicious words devoured every last bit of happiness you had left
And the hands of love stopped gripping your heart because it had finally froze over
Because I remember it all and, darling, that fire still flickers in you.
