We were younger
But so invincible we believed,
What we now look back and see as childish
We once thought was so free,
We were so brave
We thought we could fight anything
If we had the will to try.
Steven Bowman Aug 2018
Men thinking of themselves,
Ladies maybe overpowering.
They think they’re invincible,
When sadly, it’s so cowardly.

Unforgiving truth when comes,
Just we’re dying from the inside.
Arriving late, the cry overcomes,
I need comfort, nowhere to hide.

When thinking they’re invincible,
Just they’re all just being foolish.
Killed by a crime, uncomfortable,
She dies judging by a death wish.

Unwelcomed by her own guests,
Her cries were so misunderstood.
Just she needed all their respects,
Chose death, fears were no good.

Today I visited the place we had met,
Once more I became very near you...
With my whole I was dreaming;
maybe to see you there,
or maybe to hear you...
I stepped on the ground you had walked through
and felt the places you had touched
possibly just before me.
All memories of dreamy past
clearly revived for me.
I touched the walls which imbibed your existence,
heard your healing voice and I can still hear it...
Then I rose in the elevator you had risen,
where had been left the particles of your spirit,
again the same feelings of contentment encompassed me,
even your atoms I felt all around.
They joined me and one more time I felt whole.
So, very insanely I had missed you so long...
Reminiscence of your laughter linked
the estranged parts of my brain,
in my heart began to play the divine hymn
As I was all ears, links became very clear and strong,
Your voice was like a violin accompanied by an electric guitar...
Flowing through my brain cells,
sick solos tortured all my neurons -
Bliss in tormenting despair...
I felt how my blood rushed through my veins,
how my eyes became blur and dark,
As elevator rose,
there was a feeling inside that
it was me raising it instead.
My hands became ready to embrace the life,
My fingers were ready to scratch its harsh face!
To carve your name on it!
You know, it is now very easy for me
As, once, before I have done it!
Suddenly in the background there began to play healing piano,
Of the splendid chaotic profound medley,
there was composed the melody of harmonic ascension
and I began to laugh in joyful pain.
You had always seen me when I wept without tears,
At that time I wished - when I laughed in tears you heard me.
Yes! Invincible I am becoming!
After your laughter and torments,
nothing can hurt me!
As long as to you I cling
and as long as you I adore,
Nothing can turn me from my path
or let me down anymore!

So many people are living lives that they're not in love with, && I've just never quite understood that.

How much exactly
did it cost to sell your soul?
At what point did you decide,
"this is now my life until I'm old"

The truth is we're all invincible,
until the day we're not
We've got to live our lives to the fullest,
for it's only one that we've got

To go about our days,
meandering in the mundane
Is surefire the best way,
to drive ourselves insane

We're meant to be free thinkers;
artists, writers, && musicians
Making the world a better place
should be our only aim && mission

Be kind to one another
We're all in this together
It's funny how the things that divide us
Are also the same ones that tether

Us to this forsaken planet
Feeling like we're broken
When at any given moment
Kind words can be spoken

Falling from our lips
&& lifting others' hearts
We all have the capacity to make a difference
It's just a matter of choosing to start
Today a friend of mine said to me "We are all invincible, 'til we die." This poem was inspired by that statement.

they asked her what she wanted to be
when she was older
she replied “Lady Liberty”
and draped a toga around her
star-freckled shoulders
tissued fabric kissed her toes

she plucked a torch out of thin air
and shot it through with lightning
electric burns drew delicate scars on
the canvas of her forearms

the sun crowned her as a saviour
and the moon wrote love letters
while the sea-salt spray of the untameable ocean sang
a siren song of invincibility

and, with a wave of her hand,
the doors to freedom flew open.
