If I had to choose, I would choose you

It’s you, over things, over people, over dreams
Sometimes it’s you, even over me
But it’s hard now to tell, what is us... What is me
We are tangled around each other
A pair of clouds
A pair of trees
Or is it one?
Or is it three?

If I had to die, I would die with you

You are, always are, my only destination
Often you’re the ****** journey too
Sometimes the way is hard to find, in the dark, on rough seas
I am tossed in life’s ocean
I am a girl
I am a wife
I am a mum
Or am I me?

Then I come home
And my love is here
The way is clear

Lying down with a heart of glass
Loneliness caught up with me at last

In the days, I perform for the millionth time
My most Oscar-worthy portrayal of 'normal'

But when night rolls in and the curtains shut
I escape from their eyes, I am free of their ties

Lying down with a heart of glass
I never know which laugh will be my last

Today though, I saw another pair of eyes
Another heart screamed out about being wild

Come with me, let's go and sit in candle light
The river's ours today, no matter what they say
Come with me, let's drink and try to understand
Our own mystery, holding each other's hand

Lying down with a heart of glass
Can you see through it to where it broke last?

You say fragile is fine under the soft sky
And engrave our friendship on this heart of mine

Clammy little hand on my face
It's 4 a.m., did you know that?
Baby girl, I forgive you

Come and monkey climb on our bed
The milky sweetness on your breath
Made tenderness
Of every sleepless night

Loud bubbling laughter in my ear
When migraine splits my head in two
Baby girl, I love you still

Absent-minded I reach for you
The soft petal kiss on my face
Makes tenderness
Of every small shortcoming

You tattooed on my skin
I want
To marry at sixteen
I want
To ride this to the end
To take drugs in your car
To drive you round the bend
I want

To whisper in the black
I want
To kiss until we spark
I want
You to become my king
Your name to be the ink
You tattooed on my skin

Your skin on mine burns like
The cold salty water of the sea
Your hand in mine feels like
A swelling girlish fantasy
In the dawn I stand alone
I stand and stare

This night suddenly ending caught me unaware

Your skin on mine is like
Sunshine for the buried seeds of spring
Your hand in mine feels like
The promise of a ring
In the dawn I stand with you
I stand so still

When next I move, the moment will forever disappear
I wake again, the dream is gone
And you are never here

Let's embark on a journey
Of unconditional love.
Make our lives a sea voyage
And our vows the sky above.

We can navigate by stars
Even through the darkest frights.
I would choose this boat again
Every single day and night.

But land we must one day find
On the crossing of our sea.
What say you mon Capitaine?
Let's embark on a journey!

Our home is a pretty paper cut-out
Carefully dishevelled to celebrate our life
Our love
The time we do not have

The child asleep upstairs
Left paper trails
Proofs of love
Written up in crayons

I look at you
Looking away
The soft blue light
My lone embrace
Kisses your face

Sleepily longing for your touch
I speak your name
Like a mantra
A password

A sudden
Forgotten
Song

I long
For you again

Your eyes burn like fire
A question
An answer

I long for you again
I speak your name
