ignoring the clock
Vessels  and Wine menus of the archaic formulas seemed from the new Universe that was approaching them vertiginously, concelebrating the unitary form of the union of the pilasters of the Opistódomos with Hellas , which was constituted as an inter-dimensional state, for two strategists universal and immortal that provided the beginning of a new Christic language, based on the relationship of the unified polis but with an infinite calendar perspective. Two years,
but will we make it to three?
   Pimple a stipple of red paint
   on my chin,
mouth scarred pink with the last deposits

   I am making an effort
   for myself, then himself.

   wine also white, extortionate, though I haven’t paid.
I look at him, assuming this is our last meal.
If I tell the sea, will she wash it away?
   How lovely he is. Really, I mean it.
   He must believe we are forever and ever.
I count the mouthfuls, the tiles on the floor.
His chair squeals when he leaves for the loo.

Explanation: A poem that was part of my MFA Creative Writing manuscript, in which I wrote poems about cities that have staged the Eurovision Song Contest, or taken the name of a song and written my own piece inspired by the title. I have received a mark for this body of work now, so am sharing the poems here.

the far out, was
a place where americans
met americans they had
met in amsterdamn ,
berlin or venice..
there were london gangsters
stranded and dangerous..
we plied our trade upon the steps
of the far out and bruce springsteen
played day in and day out as
the wind blew..
******* women cut hair in
the gentle surf and the young
frats had their pictures taken..
the scandanavians had the best
tans and most of the money..


we lived in a donkey hut in the hills
overlooking the harbour
where the sun set
amidst hustlers and go-go
dancers..
the ferries came and went..
one bus to the village and
another down to the beach-
down the road was the
my way..

in the village there was bar
after bar
a disco near a windmill
retsina and souvlaki
people packed into
squares
i wonder now what we
said..
now and again
someone who lived there..
