Insomnia in a serving,
I have it with a head full of thoughts.
Ready pen in hand,
contemplating where they should land.

Caffeine in a gulp,
unruly chatter in the background as soundtrack.
Landing words haphazardly in ink...
Scrawls and scribbles of what I think.

Coffee breath in a cup...
A delectable complement
to a favoured pastime.
Enjoying this very moment,
as I jot down this last flavoured rhyme.

My coat is black
like the nights
I have long forgotten.

I left heaven
for the taverns.

I did my readings before daybreak
when the moon was far aloft,
but the nights got longer.

I kept putting things off
hoping I would discover a star
I knew was there.

Now I saw logs
and leave the leaves
where they fall.

Through passionate visions
nightly anguishing tells
Your tranquil incisions
Rings hallucinated bells

Ancient contented evenings
were not worshiped to entire
Now the past is fast beaming
My fractured soul is on fire

i look at her
and she is goddess
loop and knot

i look away
and she's ocean sky flow
breather of this breath

i look within
and i am at her feet
removing her sandals

i look without
and i'm depth ebb
space silenced

The things I would trade
To go back to the day
Before darkening storm
Took my happiness away

You make me feel so badly
Why don't you turn around?
Megan
You know I love you madly
My heart weighs about a pound.
Don't blame me if i ever doubt you
You know i couldn't live without you
Megan
You are the only only only.

That night filled with
stomach dropping
heart stopping
reality shattering fear
is no more.

Mmm, tell them
tell them he's coming home.

That boy covered by
man features,
rap-music preachers,
and anger induced tears--
is no more...

Mmm! Tell them he's coming home...

I saw that man today
climb some steps while I stood shocked.
He gave his hand a raise
and put his key in the lock.
Throughout all my days,
I never even thought
that I'd see the one where he
finally fled the flock.

So I tell them.
Tell them he's coming home.

I tell them.
Tell them he's coming home.

I saw that man today,
that's all I can say.
Just that fact alone
makes me thank God every day.
In all my heavy years!
I never thought I'd say
that I almost lost my brother,
and I wanted him to stay.

So I'll tell them.
Yes, yes, I'll always tell them.
I will tell them...

I'll tell them he's coming home.
