Some people think
That a poet is just an imitator of the truth
That if one writes of a dancing girl
Or a raindashed forest
Or a landscape bare
They are merely sating their wish to be these things
To be something more than a record keeper
An imitator.
I don't think so, for experience has taught me
That it is much more pleasant to think of being
Than to be.
Thank God I'm a poet.
With a pen in hand.
I say some people think, Plato thinks, but that's not important :)
