There is an inadequacy
In all of my words,
Mortality comes out shallow,
Divinity more so.
I sketch out the ends of eras,
The tragic falls of kings,
And smile as I pen the last line.
There is nothing to smile about.
Is it tragedy when there is
So
Much
Laughter?

You built your castles out of glass
and waited for them to be broken,
so this time you would have an excuse
to bare your teeth and attack.

They cried, they apologized
but nothing could satisfy you,
you knew this would happen after all
and the audience needed a show.

In the aftermath's silence
with glass at your feet and blood on your hands,
you howled at your accusers,
you swore you swore you swore
that they started it,
that this wasn't your fault,
you had no choice.

I’ll destroy the universe
but I’ll destroy myself first
crack after crack after
crack after crack
until my limbs glitch in and out of existence
until my soul is split across my dimensions
until my mind has been copied,
duplicated into millions
of overheating computers

then the sheer chaos
of my existence
will rip apart the fabric of the universe

The candle flickers at the end of the table,
red blue yellow,
swaying ever so gently.

The draft that slithers under the door,
around the windowpanes
could blow it out.

Still it flickers,
wax dripping, searing the wood

You stand,
chair creaking your release,
and walk forward,
stand over the candle.

In the flame you see eyes
that burn of betrayal

A hand that twitches
ever so slightly,
you ***** out the flame,
wash the blood off your hands
and pretend it's wax
