The Party
 Dec 2017 Shadows

Amidst the excitement
over disabling drinks and drugs
and hasty hook ups
there is a silence that exists
because nobody talks.
Nobody talks.

Demons fill the air
intoxicating your emotions
and you're alone.
Parties shouldn't be lonely,
should they?

There are masked people
segregated
except for one girl
whose face shines
the mask blocking her light
like an eclipse.

And she's not here.
the flesh covers the bone
and they put a mind
in there and
sometimes a soul,
and the women break
vases against the walls
and the men drink too
much
and nobody finds the
one
but keep
looking
crawling in and out
of beds.
flesh covers
the bone and the
flesh searches
for more than
flesh.

there's no chance
at all:
we are all trapped
by a singular
fate.

nobody ever finds
the one.

the city dumps fill
the junkyards fill
the madhouses fill
the hospitals fill
the graveyards fill

nothing else
fills.
Green grass grew where marble now lies
Teasing the past to summon old cries
Where summer dies and stars no longer seen
Appearing in mud and everything unclean

Simple waves crash upon complex shores
To wash away all the world ignores
Weathered seams and broken dreams
Unseen images and blocked sun beams

This is the story that no one told
These are the truths that make us cold
Cherish the memoirs, use what they show
Live in the moment, let the past go

Fascinating how we can live
Holding on tightly to the past
If our memories serve us well
Perhaps it profits us to make them last
Memories of love and laughter
Some of tragedies and fear
All collected by our senses
The things we see, feel and hear

Driven by a common motivation
We seek relationships unending
The love of parents for their children
Is far beyond comprehending
And so the joy we share today
Are memories I'll hold forevermore
Cause the memories I have of you
Are the ones I most adore
To all my children.

How can thoughts be real
They're not solid enough to touch
So how can someone manifest
A feeling such as love?
Can you
Hold it
Breathe it
Squeeze it in your hands
It's forcing us to trust
In the invisible
Once again

Because although you can't see it
  It can still disappear
Love is the sad song
That left you crying in your beer

Blind sided
It can hit you
And you best believe it's true
Love is as real
As the way I feel for you
....

skin pulled taut
by stretching fingers
veins darken beneath olive skin
fingers pull knuckles pull tendons
strings seem to stretch from fingertips to shoulder
movement like puppetry
dry nails break and peel
from bending backwards
caused by coal ropes
you twitch
reach
move
but
not on your own
you are not your own
I am not my own
A poem about not feeling in control of your own body while dissociating
