Mother look.
Maybe I know where
all the fallen stars have gone
and where the falling stars go.

Maybe in the undersea,
becoming who they really
want to be.
°°°
When wading on low tides, I never forget to hunt for newface starfishes and take photographs of them for keepsakes.
°°°
This concept may be out of the box and/or bizarrely new. The metaphor or maybe the connection of a star and a starfish in this might be not as striking but I hope it does leave a good impression. At the same time, I wrote it in my perspective as a child so to best reminisce how I used to think about falling stars and starfishes. It's like writing a provoking memory, to me. And I did use to imagine the falling stars and starfishes (both things fascinated me) metaphysically connected and related when I was young. It's not a concept I've made up now, it's a thought that really came in mind at the very moment I was at sea with my mother in my childhood. It's a memory I really want to honor and write something about. Somehow, I also wanted to convey this concept as something that would be bizarrely relatable to me, something I, or if by chance, you as well, can reflect on in terms of my/your relationship to my/your mother. On the first line, "Mother look", I wanted it to convey a sense of expression entirely describing those instances when I tried to explain myself or something I think about to my mother and seldom end up in arguments. Then the thought of relating falling stars to starfishes can be childlike. I think of it in a sense that it is a figure. It's exactly what a mother would commonly think when she argues with her child over something, she would think what her son/daughter (in his/her teenage) thinks and wants is childish/childlike. Most times, mothers negate and say what they want for their sons and daughters even if it isn't what their children really want. So that is why I had to impose it in this poem, because it states something cliché but still very relatable. On another note, the fallen and falling stars are both figures that signify the sons and daughters who dared of choosing their own path in very hope of a better definition of their identity and risked for a destination even in the possibility that they could be lost or broken in the process. Then the undersea would be a metaphor or a figure of the world we currently have, a world opposite to the sky, far from where the stars dwell, figuratively a place where falling stars go. But still, can be a place that can be called a home. So that's it. Enstring everything together and TA DAAAH! Lol.
°°°
On a serious note, my dear weirdos, it matters to follow our hearts and seek for answers and affirmation to questions that put us in crisis especially if identity is concerned, even if it meant that we have to not follow what our mother would assertively say, mothers are not always right. And even if it meant that we have to leave the house we dwell in and the family that we share it with. Most times it is worth the shot. We'd be there soon. It's really not like we're leaving home. Home is certainly a feeling, not necessarily a place. And home will always be within us only when we've truly found who we really are.

Pardon me for the long note. Anyway, thanks for reading. Happy Sunday. :'>
Glowing sea tries to touch the sky, again and again,
As I appeal for your love even in inevitable constrain.
Endless sea merges with sky far away from the earth,
Just like our souls amalgamate with eternal love and mirth.
Glistening sands adorn with starfishes spark in the sun light,
Looks like the bride’s costumes dazzling in the marriage night.
Roaring of sea sounds like the echoes  of your heart,
Stoutly says on our   holy integration is never for depart.
Glittering sea’s waves  knee down and the tides go up,
As we bow down for God’s blessing with great hope.
The sacred sea shore gives the pleasure of eternal feeling,
As your love heals the soul and refine internal feeling.
Perception of my love
we stood there in each other's arms,
waiting for the waves to pass,
and though we were both scared of the water,
she grabbed a handful of seaweed
and seashells and starfishes,
weaving them into a crown
made specially for me.
she held it behind my back,
hiding it until the tides lowered.
she saved me from drowning
when i was about to give in.
i will make you believe
you are lovely,

she hummed with the sea breeze.
half of me wanted to take her hand
and walk through the ocean she parted,
yet the other half of me wasn't sure
if i could make her believe that she is too.

WE OUT HIP DEEP IN THESE WAVES
A LIFE CREATOR IN THESE WAVES
PUTTING HER HAIR UP IN A PONYTAIL
SHE’S MY OWN SURFER GAL
YES!
HER NECKLACE’S MADE OF SHARK TEETH
AN ANCHOR ON HER LEFT THIGH
HER BLUSHING WHISPER’S IN THE SEASHELLS
PUT BALANCE IN THE POSITIONS
YEA
SHE’S OUT ON TOP OF MY SURFBOARD IN THESE WAVES
SKRRRT
A TSUNAMI FORMING IN THESE WAVES
PEOPLE RUSHIN' TO THE LAND
SHE GON' BE A WASH UP ON THE SAND
SMALL BABY TURTLES FROM THEIR SMALL HOLE
COMING FOR HER RESCUE
COASTS ALL GLO'D UP
OATMEAL COLORED CONSTELLATIONS
SHE WALKED UP TO ME WITH A BLANK JELLYFISH
HAND IN HAND, GIVE N TAKE
BACK N FORTH, MY LIL MERMAID
COUPLE OF SEAPORTS IN HER HAIR
2 STARFISHES COVERING HER *******
SEAWEED HANGING AROUND HER HIPS
FROM QUAYSIDES WIT THEM WHARFS
TO A LITTLE HUMAN BODY
LAID IN THE SAND
JUST  THEM
DRIFTIN
TIDES

Neither fire nor storm
can wash the tide away
it is this earthy season
that takes the most of may
i plucked a seed from
whence it came
to plant a new breed
of unknown origin
i know not when i shall return
for every reason that is bare
i only know the beach is free
and the entrance must be so
it reminds me of wooden shells,
of starfishes and swimming trunks
can make an afternoon
an aftershock
of things that happened
and things to come

i walked the silent beach of home
with but one tragedy
i am alone......

Only at Sea
Jean Rojas Apr 2015
Golden droplets of the sea water
Mist my hands and hair with sighs
From mountains of flourishing splendor
Far away from battle-scarred grounds

Bring me to sea
Where all through the way
Fishes delight
And corals in sight
Catch up in time
To rest on the rails
Dissolving in thoughts
Of pleasures surrendered

Moving in lines
Choreographed by the wind
Sky-cloaked
And sun-soled
And fishermen’s nets
Living like creatures
Adorned by starfishes
Forgotten in time…
Just relying on compasses
To never get lost

You and I,
Our ships gliding
Through the night
Both never knowing
We’ve come face to face
Both of us longing
Tranquility’s strength
Lost in our own thoughts
Or company’s joy
Never alone and yet,
So alone……

Denied by the truth
In lands that we live
Grievously grieving
Though laughing in vain
Hiding, pretending
As masters behave

Only at sea
Do we begin to see

You were a lover
Who sailed through the seas
I am a dreamer
Who sees through the sail
Never together we were,
And never to be
Two fields divided
In two roads diverted

I’m strange to be longing
For someone not known
Strange that I ponder
What lies yonder
Thoughts of you
So clearly I see
Thoughts of the night
Then, your images flee

Only at sea
Do we really
Begin to see……..

A large Alsatian barks at a passerby stranger
as the pond geese honk sensing grave danger
Trudges back home a rangy lone ranger.

Big and little aubergines cast a purple shade
In the twilight birdsong begins to fade
Night makes navy-blue of the greenery's jade.

Wolves howl in the distance
Panthers prowl near pig pens
Ocelots growl around the dens.

Dolphins perform in the aquatic circus
Kids count on the time-old abacus
All in all the miracle of creation's fabulous

Elsewhere the morn dawns upon wee ladybirds
And shepherds go about grazing their hungry herds.

A rare sight of starfishes settle upon beach pebbles
Pink salmon in a see-through lake breath out bubbles
Bombed by tech; corpses found in debris and rubbles!

Wild species lurk in the murky forest
Stands tall and hovering high mount Everest
A chance to enjoy nature at its very best!

Admit it O' mankind no one can ever be
at par with your and my versatile Creator
The billions of species is far too extraordinary
He single-handedly created all that variety in nature.

For even the clever human who invented the radio
did not as well model the computer.
The one who designed my dresser couldn't design my patio
It'd be rare for a shoemaker to also be a tutor

But God He made both ant and elephant
and there's absolutely nothing that He can't.
Travis Green Jun 2019
I wanted to stay with him forever
under the nighttime sea and nuzzle
inside his labyrinth of arms, his deep
streaming veins so vivid, lovable,
a synchronized song rising over great
mountains, touching my chests and hips
where upbeat sounds dance around
and around within my world.  To ride
through his valleys of love in the starlight
enchantment, the blazing boat rides
coming alive inside his dynasty, dazzling
depths, our bodies locked together
like two sparkly starfishes, dreaming
of the days when we used to stroll
down the sidewalk in the cityscape,
the sunset above our magical kingdom,
our hands intertwined, swaying with time,
feeling each other’s equation of bones,
embracing the lively scenery surrounding
us on this beautiful occasion.  He was someone
that I loved, a blossoming rose
flowing through my soul, a poet
in the champagne light making
my eyes shine bright, a gorgeous
attraction luring me inside his
seasons of affection, upbeat romance,
drumbeating lyrics soaring
through my skin, lifting me up
in the sky as I glide in the moonlight.
