Feel Mar 2013
I've seen you in striped white,
I've seen you in black wrap-around tops,
I've seen you in stilettos,
I've seen you in Fitflops.

I've seen you in the bluest of days,
I've seen you in the rainiest of nights,
I've seen you in the face of the sun,
I've seen you in the wind-full of kites.

I've seen you in the trajectory of life,
I've seen you stare at me with care,
I've seen you in the droplets of water,
I've seen you in every castle in the air.

I've seen you dreaming,
I've seen you back in reality,
I've seen you physically Earthy,
I've seen you  emotionally Mars-y,

I've seen you sad and jubilant,
I've seen you troubled, but kept a smile,
I've seen you doubled - in poker,
I've seen you gone crazily wild.

I've seen you in green-blinking nails,
I've seen you return my stutters,
I've seen you stand tall - confident,
I've seen you slouch - don't matter.

I've seen you looking into empty spaces,
I've seen you looking into a tasty plate,
I've seen you doubt yourself,
I've seen you believing in fate.

I've seen you in the bakery,
I've seen you in a factory,
I've seen you in your beauty,
I've seen you in your most ball-sy.

I've seen you in the bus,
I've seen you read,
I've seen you pick up a microphone,
I've seen you speaking with speed.

I've seen you with a newspaper,
I've seen you with an iPad,
I've seen you with a t-shirt,
I've seen you stylishly clad.

I've seen you work hard,
I've seen you studied irresponsibly,
I've seen you proud,
I've seen you flicker embarrassingly.

I've seen you here,
I've seen you there,
I've seen you near,
I've seen you everywhere.

I've seen enough,
I've seen you in extremes,
I've seen you thorough,
I've seen you in teams.

I've seen you verily,
I've seen you truly,
I've seen so much inspiration,
I've seen you guilty.

I've seen "I've seen" 58 times,
I've seen you more than that few.
But I would've seen nothing more,
If I've seen none of you.

Requiem
Bryn Dawes Apr 2015
I have seen the boy tear at the stitches his shadow sowed,
You are an old man who I have neither a need, nor a want of anything,
I have seen lungs gasp for air while the stupid ******* drowned you,
Hidden in the Old Mill, left to drink Complan and ***** nightmares,
I have seen your mother dying whilst she was making the children sandwiches from her bed,
The Lost Boys forgot, grew old and had Lost Boys of their own,
I have seen you try to fly from the world which is now on your shoulders, whilst the eagle circles in the sky you dreamt of,
The storm of madness continually crashes against our walls of concrete and imagination,
I have seen failure after successive failure wave to me from those eyes,
A father and a husband locks himself alone when the sentiment kicks his guts,
I have seen a head wrenched back to the barrage of pills and pain by wretched Ephialtes and his like,
Running from the hospital because they want more blood,
I have seen you scared, naked and drinking toilet water,
Everything went blue and time slowed down in riotous Belfast,
I have seen ****** and *****

We nursed our bruised bodies and mutinous minds from themselves,
I have seen late night talks of tears but freeing none whilst brooding on Dundee benches,
You misunderstand my intentions but I do not blame you,
I have seen petrified thoughts begging for company, abandoned to fight the lonely nights,
In dark rooms full of empty Coke cans and never-to-be-used condoms,
I have seen the miscarried baby and the aborted foetus and I have wept in secret over dreams of their lamented birthdays,
Prodigies of stardust and walking infinity,
I have seen a baby boy born into dyslexia, depression and death,
Reflections meander on the television with maddened eyes and religious fists,
I have seen the bite marks on my own arms as Fenrir knaws at his chains,
Graveyard whispers cry of Elliott Smith and James Dean,
I have seen the suicide note torn into pieces, but put aside ready to be glued back,
My brothers Icarus, Atlas and Prometheus all shake their heads in dismay,

I have seen friends and strangers and imagined all lives unlived,
Felt every tear I have not cried, cried every tear I have not felt,
I have seen the life that will never be and thereby choose not to live,
Sing a requiem for futures lived,
In the present now passed into the past,
I have seen prison bars,
I have seen closing doors without handles, hinges or keyholes,
I have seen the invisible voice,
I have seen beaten tracks leading nowhere,
I have seen blue eyes stare back from the abyss,
As soon as see me, gone,
I have seen forests of my mind burning,
I have seen the scorched mattress,
I have seen a lifeline on your wrist dying to live,
I have seen Ragnarok,
I have seen too much and felt not enough,
Though I could bear no more

Holy Trinity of death, divorce and debt,
Haunt the adult-minded children,
Manifest the shroud of sorrow around you,
As if a shield of darkness unto all light,
My legs are not yet buckled but do sink with every blinded step,
I have seen words upon pages but not felt the anguished breath slap me as you scream them in my face,
I have seen everything and nothing, that which has and has not,
I have seen things never to have been, be,
I have seen things never to have happened, happen,
I have seen a woman **** for feelings that never come,
I have seen her undress me with her stare and then blink,
I have seen a forgotten man escape his crazed mind by losing it,
I have seen him in love with ghosts that are not dead,
I have seen children fading from photographs that do not exist,
I have seen them lost in a Neverland that never was,
I have seen; now please let me see no more, not ever,
Now I am lost,
Now I have seen enough,
Please no more, not ever,
I have seen enough.
I have seen enough.

I've seen them come
I've seen them go
I've seen the needle
Take another soul
I've seen the vacuum
I've seen the hole
I've seen things
I'd rather not know

I've seen them beg
I've seen them cry
I've seen them lose
I've seen them die
I've seen broken mothers
Wonder why
I've seen it all
Through tear-filled eyes

I've seen the needle
I've seen the cost
I've seen it all
Through thickened walls
I've seen men when
They take the fall
Get up again
Then do more

I've seen them do
Without a doubt
I've seen them cut
Their clientele
Treat them worse
Then they would a dog
Send them to hell
With Fentanyl

I've seen them come
I've seen them go
I've seen them beg
For another dose
And when there's nothing
Left to own
I've seen them die
All alone

I've seen changing people for money,
I've seen dithering people for money,
Its not god but,
I've seen dying people for it,

I've seen burning people in sunlight for money,
I've seen trembling people in cold for money,
It's not homer but,
I've seen destroying home for it,

I've seen changing relation for money,
I've seen surrendering people for money,
Its not diet but,
I have seen sleeping people without meal due to no money,

I've seen ashamed people for money,
I've seen running people on fire for money,
Its not food but ,
I've seen dying people form hunger due to no money,

I've seen ******* woman for money,
I've seen burning daughter-in-law for money(dowry),
Its not cloth but,
I've seen walking people without cloth due to no money,

I've seen quarreling brethren each other for money,
I've seen dancing ******* the road for money,
Its not luck. But,
I've seen changing luck from money..
Translation of Paisa,

I've seen a man give it all up
I've seen a man muster for all it's worth
I've seen the hand hold out the rusty cup
I've seen a man pass his brother up

I've seen a man fall down on his knees
Begging heaven above, God help me please
I've seen a man that sees no need
I've seen plenty of men in captivity

I've seen a man on the verge of something
More often than not walk away with nothing
I've seen a man stay down when falling
Not like you couldn't see that coming

How many times have I seen a man cry
Yet too afraid to look him in the eye
When I think about it all, I often to find
That too makes me want to cry

I've seen a man open up his heart
Then close it down for all it's worth
I've seen a man go for broke
Gain the world then lose it all

I've seen men captive, I've seen men free
Both of them at times find it hard to see
I've seen men much like you and me
Lay it all on the line and change their destiny

I've Seen
Torin May 2016
I've seen monuments crumble
Statues as art becoming lowly rubble
On the shores of ancient Alexandria
A lighthouse fell beneath the shore
Now, for those lonely mariners
Lost and wayward travelling lonely seas
And any island seen
Harbors only sirens singing
I've seen mountains
A glorious goal to tower above the world
A mind of the infinite
Aligned with the definite
I've seen mountains
Rock by stone
Even grain of sand
I've seen them sink into the sea
I've seen you
Feathers forming through the night
Feathers on an angels wing
I've seen Lucifer falling from grace
I've seen
I've seen my love be enough to save you
I've seen my love sent into a void
I've seen these dreams as a flower petal
I've seen a flower after bloom
What once was a source of beauty
Becoming only memory
A thought of something divine
To help me with my fight
Of these demons I've seen
"I'm getting sick and tired of never understanding,
Where is the truth you promised?"

I’ve seen colors melt, colors mold over, colors who stick to the sides of
Other colors
I’ve seen colors which soak to the quick of wood and skin, ones that spill over
Or dry like deserts
I’ve seen colors that congeal like the living, I’ve seen the same ones mixed to death
I’ve seen colors pool, colors rust and colors boil

I’ve seen colors that don’t read maps
Colors that overrun, overturn, overlove their neighbors
And ones that play well in sand
I’ve seen colors that drink cocktails, drink water, drink blood
Together
Colors that get bored, colors that get sexed
I’ve seen colors ripped from the earth
Seen them ghost to other places

I’ve seen colors give up, every time, waiting for air, for shelter,
For Godot
I’ve seen colors grow cold like science
Grow loud like a flag unfurling
Grow up, move out, move on
I’ve seen colors stuck in between things
These same colors fill empty spaces
Fill vision, fill cups of coffee
I’ve seen colors tell white lies
They aren’t white
They are happy

And they aren’t here for us

we will greet the mourning sun.
together we will shine.
we'll send the light to everyone.

evolution in the heart, evolution in the soul,
evolution in the part, evolution in the whole.

we come in the name of all that is insane,
we come from a time when our ancestors are strung out on the line,
our crime is such that the answers don't seem to mean that much.

you sit there so patiently in your room,
and you dream that the end is coming soon.
you listen to the modern prophets, shouting in the street,
fed with the instruments that you play with your feet.
you go a-wandering, through the crowd, but they don't hear you speak.
with your mouth wide open, you make no sound.

staring into sounds, the cacophony of june.
twenty-one hundred miles away,
the crystal bell begins to sound and the people recall the tune.
they heard it long ago, a faded rainbow on their minds.
and so we stumble in the dark, with bright signs all around,
calling our numbers through the crowd.
it's all connected.
trees with hollow souls, we climb them in the night,
never wanting it to end.
the diamond light begins to shine and echoes over the town.
they take it in their stride, the rapid paintings that fill their minds,
and slowly we command the time, to fall away in fine lines,
tempered to boiling point inside.
it's all connected.

all the children played, laughing in the rain.
long ago they looked just like you and me.
no longer do they need their meagre shells of existence,
to leap from tree to tree, clinging to their lives high above.

i've seen the sunshine.
i've seen the rain.
i hear that whistle a-blowin'.
it's driving me insane, again.
i've seen her pack her things and leave on the train.
i've seen a thousand painters, with the sun in their eyes.
i've seen the children walking, with no place to crawl.
i've seen the pictures playing, to only empty seats.
i've seen the people marching, up and down those ancient streets.
i've heard the newborn baby crying, all alone in the dark.
i've played to a crowded room, with no one in sight.
i've seen the sunrise, hang around for days.
i've seen the playground, from when i was a child.
i've heard your silence.
i've sung a song to you.
i've heard the old man laughing, outside in the rain.
i've heard the gunshots blasting, down my own front door.
i've seen a hundred archers, with no targets in sight.
i've seen a girl in the pale afternoon, just looking for fun.
i've seen the man a-wandering, throughout the city streets.
i've seen the pickets heading down to the blood-soaked beach.
i've seen the flowers bending, in the gusty wind.
i've watched as people flushed their freedoms down the drain.

the smouldering ruin that was your last regret,
is saying hello to all the people you met down town.
while you were there, pretty people everywhere,
with coloured ribbons in their hair,
coming back to haunt you in your dreams, so it seems.
the silent chattering of your alphabet,
is burning down with your cigarette.
billowing smoke around the room on some foggy afternoon,
and in time you'll be there soon,
floating around inside a red balloon,
away, to another day.

o doom and delight they fight battles in the mind.

configurations of existence, for your pattern to arise,
a victim of circumstance.
time to go out through the window.
you know you've never been through,
though you know just where it goes.
mine for gold, out where the cool wind blows,
your mind is an overflow, a garden waiting to grow.
and the songs you sing are written in your dreams.
and the dreams you dream are never what they seem.
when you figure it out, without a doubt,
you'll never say what you mean,
and never mean what you say.

i know you know what i know.
i see you know what i see.
i hear you know what i hear.
i am you know that i am.

now we can see the roads you're walking down.
and we can see the histories being spun around.
it will come to show you'll need a little self-control,
when you're living your life and dancing to our rock n roll.
these words were written long ago

— The End —
