I lay here in silence,
But it is not silent,
A ringing in my ear,
A high-pitched scream,
For it to be quiet.

I lay here in silence,
But there’s still no silence,
A screaming of my fear,
A high-pitched frequency,
For me to not wince.

I lay here in silence,
But it’s never quiet,
Always ringing,
Always screaming,
For silence to be silent.

No sleep,
No silence,
No thing.
