the sting and tingle on my lips
oh, familiar friend
who has left you bloodied this time?
why did you let them in?

a heavy haze hangs over you
must you be so weak?
he's thick like syrup, black like coal
condemn any man but me

he burns, he soothes, he beckons, i know
hold tight to what is left
turn to him and away it shall go
but know he leaves a mess

she stings, she tingles on my lips
my familiar friend
she's left you so bloodied this time
why did you let her in?

your agony and pain alike
your thirst will cease to be
your problems will become a blur
if you run off and drink the sea
just a very short poem i wrote one day about a man drinking away his sorrows after a breakup.
