I had closed the door upon my wounded heart
and I wouldn't let anyone in
I had trusted and loved only often to be hurt
but was determined it would never happen again!

I then locked that door and took that old rusty key
and flung it as long and as far as I could
this time it was different I wouldn’t give in
For my heart was at last closed for good!

Then one winter day you entered my life
And I realized my heart had been lifted
That tiny little key that I had hurled hard away
Was just seconds from being re-gifted!

It was at this moment when you held out your hand
there was only one thing I could possibly do
a smile crossed my lips…it was then that I knew
That the key to my heart… it was you!
Never say never!
