Aug 2014
the sun came back today
but i'm still the same
i am rivers immutable,
my currents running south
for eons, no end

and the reeds thrive in my waters
and i feed into the sea
deep in my fluids you will not rot
for you are just as pure as me

you will never forget
the way i tugged at your feet
and how you sunk so deep into my sands
and no, i wont let
you feel this incomplete
reach for me, take my hands
i will never let you drown

the ocean ***** away at me
until i run dry
these waters don't flow alone
mixed with the creatures of the sea
my ingenue lost in the riptide
this disaster is my new home

so when you return to my banks
you will see nothing but the remains
of lilly-pads, withered reeds, the decomposing of leaves
but you still will never forget me
