Am I Really Me?

by regina-riddle

I always reach for you When the night seems too long It feels like you should be there Lying where you always were I want to hold your hand Feel your fingers tighten Around my own tentacles Two hands cleaving as one Since you’ve been gone The walls listen to my sobs And seem to whisper of grief That edges my very soul Missing you is like a nightmare Where I never truly wake It leaves me feeling sluggish Even during the sunniest days I often wonder if I will ever find comfort Amid the pain of my memories Will I ever look through the old photographs And caress the heart of what could have been? Missing you is a tragedy That keeps me grasping For the pieces of the past Which frequent my thoughts Without you, I think Am I really me? ©2014 by Regina Riddle
