I stand unhinged
from the sweetness of love,
but fearful of love's
long-lasting lament.
A chilling sensation, and
tapestry unfurls.

I seek not its tender tendrils,
for in its touch,
a searing pain resides.
Leaving old, deep
lingering shadow scars,
and unhealed wounds.
Concealing a lifetime's ache.
