Nothing rhymed
with anything
alliteration and consonance
got confused counting
and accenting this and that
and decided a nice cup of tea
with brandy and a nap
among dusty books I imagine
in a square of sun from a high window
like a lesson in perspective
you find interesting and turn past
would be nice this afternoon
and tonight and even well we'll see
about a poet's tomorrow
when you're more somber
and know better so you can
