They told me I was ugly
I said it five years more
You told me you were ugly
I understood why they caused us pain for
I told you, you were beautiful
You said “that is not me”
I said I was ugly, and you disagreed with me
We looked in the same mirror and discovered our own flaws
We looked at one another and couldn’t comprehend it all
Together we can fall, or together we can rise.
Together we can learn to love ourselves inside and outside.
