Watching friends crumble to tears,
I see a reality built from my worst fears.

Hearts no longer whole,
As if missing a part of the soul.
I see tears run down the side of a face,
Over shoulder, now wrapped in another's embrace.

I see the broken hearted,
I see the scars left from those departed.

I've yet to experience such strain,
As I have never felt this precursor to pain.
