Your ways
( tes façons )

“Shadows grow so long before my eyes”

In silhouettes of dreams past and present
Deep within my desperate heart,
as I yearn for your love, reaching for my pen,
digging through postage stamps and paperclips

“And they’re moving, across the page”

Producing odd shapes on striped paper,
outlines of shaded emotions and verses
Calling out your name in bold ink
and rhyming stanzas of affection

“Suddenly the day turns into night”

Twilight steps over the horizon
as tree top edges touch newly glowing stars
Peering through curtains of cosmic lace
and flickering candlelight with soft breezes

“Far away, from the city”

Miles counted by minutes can be
a daunting task if I hesitate, yet footsteps in the dark
follow paths illumined by your eyes,
as my need grows for your love…I just can’t wait

I'm just curious...
do they make
sugar free sweet dreams?
You see her sitting in the chair,
daydreaming, staring into thin air.
You wonder what she sees,
with her hands neatly folded on her knees.
You watch her for a while,
notice a girlish smile, see her eyes brighten then dim.
You know she's thinking of him.
Her husband long gone.
You see her tilt her head as if in conversation,
what is she thinking of now?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sitting again in the chair.
With nothing to do but wait and stare.
He'll be along shortly to talk to me,
we'll have a good natter, about nothing that matters.
We'll remember the war, when we were young,
when we had fun, when we danced and walked,
and made daisy chains in the sun.
We made love by the moon, then, all over too soon.
I've waited a long time here, and while he comes to visit,
he's always young, wearing his uniform, and I am old,
and forgotten in a chair.
Signs were seen upon the sky
Constellations faded before the eye,
As each one disappeared from view
So those born were doomed to die,
And as the cosmos blinked
Light,
Stars,
Faded,
Became dim, then the stars did die,
And with the demise
Those born of that time,
Passed beyond,
For with the signs gone
Where ever they were
Death,
Demise,
Extinction,
Was at hand, with each erased
So were their lives,
As if stars exhaled, they breathed one last time,
As the stars did extinguish
Millions of tiny lights died,
Only the twelve signs were fading
Others stars still shone bright,
Capricorn,
Aquarius,
Pisces,
Aries,
Taurus,
Gemini,
Leo,
Virgo,
Libra,
Scorpio,
Sagittarius,
They diminished till nothing
The constellations did die,
A world of many, became the few
But those born on the days of,
Ophiuchus,
They still stood
Never to die, as others had past,
And the Zodiac's died,
The serpent Bearer
He kept them apart,
Life
And
Death
But his struggle was eternal
For each was of just strength
For if one did for but a moment squeeze,
A balance lost, then each pulled apart
Venomous,
Dark
Constellations
Light
For a moment went dark,
It would take Centuries
For light,
To struggle from
The dark,
And so it was from time past
For that time to come,
Births did only happen
Between the days
November 30th,
&
December 17th,
No new births out of this time
Many were lost,
Many lights shone on
Till that time,
When the constellations
Were once bright in the sky,
The thirteenth sign
Serpent bearer,
Would look over us all, the same and one.
