With Winter setting in
The cold wind brings with it
A smile across the memory
Of your hair caught in the wind
Head thrown back in laughter

How silly I felt standing there
You're already across the road
You never had time for the lights
To turn a shade of green
The whole world was too slow

Sometimes I wish I had told you
How these things made my day
You thought they were annoying
You never knew I was smiling
When I gave you that stern look

Does your laughter have the same ring?
Does it still turn heads?
Have you grown wiser?
Can the lights keep pace with you?
Or is the whole world still too slow?

After so many winters
You still bring a smile
To old random memories
Memories that are today richer
Just because you were there
I said goodbye to you once
Gave you a kiss
And turned my back
Put one foot in front the other
And slowly walked away

But your the one
Who took my already broken heart
Ripped it out my chest
And left it bleeding at my feet
Then let me walk away

I had nothing left to say
So i said goodbye
Put down the pen
Picked up a bottle and a blade
And wasted my life even further

I tried looking for another
But I couldn't find one
So I looked for you again
And when I found you
I simply said "Hello"
Poetry has been a coping mechanism. But when I lost my inspiration I searched for other ones. But neither one worked as well as poetry. Thats what I'm talking bout.

I buried an angel on top of the hill
Under the magnolia tree
Her wings are long since silent
But she still means the world to me

The magnolia's flowers cover her grave
Decorated in majestic white
She said the scent was Heaven's perfume
And their smell was pure delight

I was married to this angel for forty-one years
Before Heaven called her away
I knew she had to leave this world
Even though I begged her to stay

I know that my loss is Heaven's gain
I guess they were one angel short
I know they wouldn't have taken her away
Unless it was their last resort

Sometimes when I start missing her
I can't wait 'til the magnolias bloom
We can sit and talk for hours
While smelling their sweet perfume

She said, "This is as close to Heaven
as anyone could ever be"
So I buried her on that hillside
Underneath the magnolia tree
She took the flower that she loved,
Planted him in the burning sun,
A desert formed around and the morning dew,
Were tears the flower cried,
It nearly died.

She took the flower that she loved,
Brought him near, into her house,
Her house was cold and dry, with no light to see,
The flower could not leave,
It nearly died.

She took the flower that she loved,
Found the place where he belonged,
Without walls, in shade of sunshine, where flowers bloom,
In peace they bear no pain,
And rarely die.

DieingEmbers
Each swing
of the
pendulum
brings closer
the gravediggers pit.
Great title borrowed from E.A.Poe and recycled for my own view on how time slips away so quickly
