Don't trust anyone
I really mean it
They try to hurt you
And even though you know
It still works.

Don't trust anyone
'Cause if you do
Your heart will set fire
And your mouth will try to smile
But your eyes are the only thing that will move.

Don't trust anyone
For you cannot take your secrets back.
So... now I won't trust anyone anymore. Thank you.

Power is a familiar growth—
Not foreign—not to be—
Beside us like a bland Abyss
In every company—
Escape it—there is but a chance—
When consciousness and clay
Lean forward for a final glance—
Disprove that and you may—
In the distance I see them,
Dark billows unfurling
A canopy of grey across the horizon,
Forcing the sun into seclusion.
The rain is coming.

In cadenced formation they advance,
Nimbus clouds on the march,
Curtains of gossamer white hanging
In their trail. The rain is falling.

The hills sigh with relief,
Refreshed at this sweet aspersion,
Renewed and restored
By the Providence that
Established their foundation.

The rain has stopped.
The clouds roll on to distant lands, impelled by a cycle that will see
no end.

And all the earth lies content
In quiet meditation,
Radiant on a bed of primordial mist.

.

Take this, this poem
with torn, tattered edges
Stuff it in pockets
of jeans faded blue
Tell all the people
who teeter on ledges
Nothing is worse
if you have not a clue

Shatter this pen
flowing ink made of fire
Charring the castles
where dragon wings fly
Fanning the flames
that a sad heart has started
When every stanza
now ends in goodbye

Fracture the vase
that once sat in the window
Emerald green
with a chardonnay shine
Toss me the shards
till you see I am bleeding
Now have some cheesecake,
a nice glass of wine

Bury these dreams
so they fade in the morning
Hidden from sunlight
and coated in dew
Roll out the leaves
in the cover of autumn
Springtime for me
is now long overdue
If your eyes fill with tears
And the future seems blurred and distant
I'll be there to take your hand
You may not see me
But you'll feel me there
Right beside you
Always
So hold on to me

I am the water
I drown in
I am the rapids
With white violent foam
I am the tides
Sweeping away from the shore
I am the water
You swim in
Never knowing
How deep I am
The way I provide for life
Or promise death
I am the water
That falls from the clouds
I am the water
From drying out pools
I am all of it
I am the flood
To quench your thirst
Chemical waves crash down on receptors,
leaving me shaking and confused
My stomach winds itself into knots,
the shape of my confused and twisted thoughts.

A jumbled mess of emotions fueled on fumes.
Embers falling down like microscopic stars,
before they hit the ground with a tiny little spark.
All together enough to light my world on fire,
my only remnant a single scorched mark.
It's been a rough week...
