Breath and Life,
Beauty in Green.
Brought up from Dirt,
Into majestic Purity.

Droplet by Droplet,

I pause to Guard my Ink,
As the stream from above,
Lulls me to sleep.

It covers my surroundings,
In a dew of dreams,
As I admire its Truth and Levity.

Heavy Rain reveals its secret,
Hidden within the Mist.
Miniature Worlds greater than our own,
Where I tend to find my Home.

Drifting in thought,
Exploring new lands.
Step by Step,
In Soil anew,
I place my Flag.

I Conquer and Claim,
Unraveling Time and Space.
So my pen can stroke,
Lands of ash and smoke.

Or clouds and seas,
Birds and Bees.

And in the end,
My pen obeys,
Whatever the commands of a spy,
The fancy of my Mind’s Eye.

    1.

found I like using this word a lot, but I never took the time to confirm I was using it right -- I was, but I thought this would fit my aesthetics; google made me do it.
Fortunately
you are not my muse

I've worn out muses
by the dozens
cast them aside
like chaff
and cherished the sorrow
that ensued

Sadness was my calling card
my tragic handshake
a testament to a life
gone wrong

Age improved me
I survived the madness
came back to life
gasping for air

And so to your door
to spin the wheel
of language
to glory in its intricacy

Two poets alive
in the same century
two restless souls
under one uneasy roof

We will survive our families yet
raise a toast
when the day comes
to the dear
and thankfully departed

We'll leave poetry
like confetti in our wake
and touch the holy stone
once or twice yet
in our lives

I pray it will be so.
A note to my wife, in case it's not obvious.
somehow, i find myself happy when i hear your laugh.
