  Jan 2015 Nancy E Tracy
susan
she sits
in her grandmothers chair
head in hand
staring placidly out the window
frost is starting to form at the outer edges
and she feels the chill creeping through the glass
so she tightens the afghan, another of her grandmothers
hand me downs
, around her
and starts to gently rock back and forth
  staring
into the dreary winter vastness
letting her mind wonder
to simpler times
carefree, uninhibited, happy
   young
no, she thinks, this is not what i had planned
when did it slip from me
when did my dreams dissipate
how can i have let them go so easily
   unknowingly
with a sigh she knows she must accept
her fate
because somehow,
somewhere
she became lost
and she gave up on her dreams
so now, aging,
feeling a slight comfort
being amongst her grandmothers things
she sits
   unsettled
but accepting
accepting the hand she has dealt herself
so many years ago.
May the hand of our Lord always guide you
May His tender love daily anoint your heart
May the peace of His heaven fill your world
As this New Year's breath begins to start

May His grace in your mind be steadfast
May the light of His Spirit fill your face
May you never again feel any loneliness
As you live daily in His loving embrace

May your spirit be blessed very abundantly
Writing and sharing what He bequeaths to you
May you strive to inspire and touch another
In the wonderful way He also does for you

Be charitable and kind in your daily walk
Never finding hatred or prejudice within
Living your life each day in a humble way
As this new year in your life now begins

May each step you take this year resemble
The sharing life our Lord always displayed
And you will find His spirit blessing you
As His grace guides your life each new day.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Each year on New Years Eve
Since 1991
Each year on New Years Eve
I sit here all alone

My friends have all departed
they're dead or else they're gone

I'm much too old to party
go out in snow and ice
but dressing up with sparkling hair and high heels would be nice

The dancing and the laughter
are what I miss the most
the horns champagne confetti
To drink a New Years toast

But on the shelf above me
an album filled with love
sits quietly and waits for me

No, I am not alone
My next-door neighbor (Cora)was going to come over and we were going to drink beer and giggle and watch the ball drop, but, alas, she has to go pet-sit for her daughter whose husband has had a death in the family.  Oh well, Cheers everybody and Happy New Year 2015
