Im Sorry
Matthew J Dourow Sep 2014
Don’t be sorry
For the small things
the large things
Don’t be sorry,

I am sorry
For the way my Heart’s strings pull
On yours
I just want to hear, our chord again

I’m sorry for all the tears
that stain my journal
Whose heat burns my cheeks
reminding me of my passion fur Du

I’m sorry
for gazing at the Stars,
they remind me of your eyes

So don’t be sorry
and I shouldn’t be either…

Drowning
Matthew J Dourow Aug 2014
I miss you
More than a drowning sailor
Misses the oxygen that gives life
Misses the land that supports
You are my oxygen
You are my land
I miss You

Coffee
Matthew J Dourow Jul 2014
sip...sip...sip...sip...sip
still too hot, I say to myself
sip..sip..sip..sip
finally cool enough
time to drink the warm elixir
in no time, there is nothing left
I rise to reach
pouring till there is nothing, dregs
even this is too hot
wait...wait...
wait...wait...
finally I may drink
till there is nothing, dregs
lazily floating in my cup
as lethargically as a resorts lazy river
again I rise to reach
there's is nothing left, to show now
but my shaky hands

maybe I should have made tea instead...

The Night Before
Matthew J Dourow Jun 2014
The nameless sensation
That only occurs
As your hands dance across my back
For a moment, the stars look away
Giving us privacy
As we preform our awkward dance
Bodies locked together, an intricate puzzle
Step and sway, step and sway, and slip
Gentle fall on rough asphalt
Astride me now
A playful grin widens across your face
All I feel is your weight
Crushing the air from my lungs
In the most wonderful way
Our ribs connected
Inhale
Exhale
Inhale
Exhale
Is all I care to think about as we breathe in time to each other
Giggles and fanciful conversations
As we intimately entangle ourselves
Virgo reminds us that every night comes to an end
Making sense of whose limbs are where
Carefully as we rise
For a final dance

Starting Somewhere
Matthew J Dourow May 2014
I don't know where to begin
The End?
The end is the Grave
The Start?
The start is the Cradle
As my options thin
Maybe the Middle?
The middle is Now
Now is Alive
Alive is not Dead
Alive means you have a Head
Having a head means you can think
Make a Choice
Dead or Alive
I'll take Life
Life is Now
Applause, applause
Make your vows
To Now
Neither the end, nor the start

Surreal
Matthew J Dourow May 2014
Sometimes you need to Twist and Turn
To see through the Mist and Ferns
There's no need to make sense
Of whats been seen

Goodnight
Matthew J Dourow May 2014
I can't say Goodnight
Dusk to Dawn I consider
Goodnight is Goodbye
