23
23 must be that golden number.
the number in which you are old enough that most of your most impactful memories are now almost 10 years old or more.
What really seals the deal is that I see things from 2 years ago and I feel like time really has flown.
What happened to time being so slow to pass?
One year may as well have been 5 back then.
Now time goes by too fast.
I just wanna be 21 forever.
If not for blink 182 I would be wonder what my age was again.

We live in a world with so much to impress us
so many ways to say things that are interesting or deep
but it's really all just pioneering a finite surface
much like the Earth

We may run out one day
with these short lives of ours
we try to take it all in
and hold all the beauty we can

At least most of us do
many people choose to ignore it all
dying having never lived
so sad....

Either way life is a short moment
and it's best to know your own potential
I never feel like I've tested mine enough
and I suppose that's a good thing

At the back of the dark
below the deepest well
behind the darkest shadow
I left myself waiting for me to come back

In the great halls of an immense library
I found myself lost
Wondering if I would find my way out

Such an immense stretch of knowledge
An ocean raging on
Will I ever find the shore

I woke up on the beach and started to travel
My journey took me to the deepest part of the forest
The darkness overtaking me

That's where I found myself
Asleep in the bottom of the pit
Submerged in the back of the dark

loosen these chains
break that fence
improve this vacant lot
no legalism involved
we move in like a crime
our aim being productive
we build without codes
only our own
simple ambition
production of a destructive mastermind
rail driven
steel ridden
we build our new future
and we do it now

I truly do enjoy the cold
But sometimes I long to hold
The gentle hand of you nearby
But then I always start to sigh

Like the coldness in the wind
I think there's love around the bend
But when I place my hand up to it
It melts away frost stuck to it

Just like the cold in winter time
I wish I had you all as mine
For when the cold then starts  to form
I cannot help but feel...warm
Written after getting gas at the chevron that closed down near the Dollar General I used to work at. Time was November 2017 and I was early for work so I thought this up and wrote it. I was in the writer's club at school and wanted a project to show them.

Carry on
flow with the tide
and gain the strength to walk against it
Life is a series of tumbles
none of them will break you if you are strong
be strong and nothing can stop you
Keep it going

My head is turning
the office chair rotating
my head is pounding

The front of myself filled with the power of music
all of this seems to point to one thing
that my head will soon put me under for a while

That I will have a great long sleep
to a bright new morning

In a few years from now it'll all be a memory
I'll wonder how it even happened at all
I'll sit down and remember the days
a faded distant memory

This is what we give hope to
in our future endeavors

So I live for today in hope that I won't live that way tomorrow
that all of you become an integral part of my life
and when we're old and grey we'll still laugh together
and live on for the next tomorrow
Lol

We live in a ****** up world with ****** up people
we try so hard to censor ourselves
to set an example to the next generation
but in all the hilarious psychotic raving
we just want to be free, more liberated
hahahahaha
what a bunch of ****

The morning
Soft return from the depth of the mind
Head aglow with sensory pyres
Burning away the world we lived in
Does death do us the same?
Matt Morrison Dec 2014
How are you
                                    good
That's good
                 no reply
Wanna see something I wrote?
                                                           not really
Wanna hang out?
                                     no
Well what's up?
                                     nothing
Of course there's nothing
                                               what?
You're one of those, people who never talk about anything important
******* I'm sick of this ****

What is a world?
Inputs, outputs, slam it together
Break it apart and what is there?
We live in one dimension
A straightforward input
An all powerful output
We change what we want
That is our life
Matt Morrison Apr 2014
It's in that final stage
the end result
a moment of clarity when you feel the most confidence

The golden rectangle of perfection in every great image
a perfectly worded piece of work
an especially escalated power over what we see in our lives
that we share in our creations

We form these concepts though our experiences
and mold them into a shape that beats with our heart
taking machine-like precision in our calculations

Like candy for the mind
what a drive it gives
to succeed
to win
to predict

that end result
that went so well
Matt Morrison Dec 2014
You look good
I love to hold you keep you warm
All you wanna do is eat and sleep
I think I'll chain you up in the yard and you can scare the robbers away
or sell yourself to them so we can live a nice life in city

One day, they said.
You'd be there.
What a wait it is.
Hours like days.

It begins today.
An empty office
What a view from here
Days like hours

You feel the pressure
the weight of the whole world
they said you'd make it to the top one day.

You climb this mountain
the height of the world
they all said you'd see the peak one day.

"You'll stare into the face of god, the face will not stare back but from the peak"

What a peak

breath short
tired legs

The day came
the black cars carried you away
the mountain took it's climb on you
now it's fair and equal

an empty void
a mountain of a life

What a thin veil something like sunlight is
to cover everything but the stuff itself is smaller than atoms
so easily broken away from too
anything gets in the way and the veil is pierced
such a powerful veil it is too
to generate all that heat and come from just one big ball in the sky
a single point of light
like a big flashlight shining on the Earth in the middle of the night
Matt Morrison Jun 2014
We drift as entities through our own void
climb mountains in perpetual desire

As one we come
as one we go

Drifting across nebulae of fate and destiny

to see the infinite web of our existence
and find what strings pull others
to then pull others
until we pull those of others

We see them tugged in
lovers
artists
thinkers

We see the strings vibrate
power
greatness
life
energy

The synergy of life and the bond of our universe
in a collaborating bouncing chaotic network

all in the strings we pull
Matt Morrison Dec 2016
I took a walk in the woods today
flowers burned a sunlit yellow
the trees so tall

I scaled a mountain today
the snow melted into a cream of white
the view so large

I left the earth for a while
it seemed so great in space
the world so small

I found those woods again
flowers cut down
trees so short

The mountain waited for me to come visit
it's peak was crumbled
the view so stunted

I had a life
it left me yesterday
a time so short

How I long for that wave of subconsciousness to become real.
An idea born from the depths of my mind.
How the cold has suddenly become warm as my mind is made up.
I honestly feel I may be crazy
but for what it's worth there may be merit in what I say.
A slurred mind.
A blurred line.
A chance at life.
The idea brings itself a manifestation.
Oh great market of ideas
bring me solace
and free me from the depths of uncertainty
Matt Morrison Dec 2013
the trees stand against a saturated blue

all is calm but for a while

then the world is strange

a fire of color consumes

orange does not make it typical

trees of all but natural color neither brown or green but polychrome

life is void thus far

then it is formed

but is ordinary

a wolf is born it's howl causing ripples on a harsh surrealism

an eagle

screeching the silence apart

nothingness fills a void of what was already lacking

the colors do not fade but are commanded

for in the void the eagle flies
Matt Morrison Oct 2014
They say weird is good
I find solace in it
To feel and act as I choose
No one thinks it's weird but normal
Following my spirit
this is weird
this is our time
our generation
what a great time to live in
Matt Morrison Dec 2014
what is a tree but sticks and wood
to those who could
only break and burn
but those who turn
the vision around
the tree is now
the wood is how
the artist makes his dream real
Matt Morrison May 2016
where are you when I lie awake at night
when it feels hopeless
do you think of me and wonder the same?
I wonder where you are my soul fragment
that piece that fell out and landed in you
too late to take it back myself
your piece has fallen on me
the only way to complete the connection is to find you
soon my love
you
Matt Morrison Mar 2015
you
I'm all you want in yourself
a soon to be improvement
too bad you can't have me
i'm just out of your reach
there's some things you like
you and I know
it's not me saying it that makes it good
it's you
