Autumn

There sat the pink vitamin water.
It stared right into my anxious mind.
Or rather I stared at it through my anxious mind.
If I drifted my gaze I saw
long blue coats, dreds, hippie outfits, beards galore and three garbage ladies wearing uggs.
Surrounded by strangers.
New faces, yet it doesn't seem shocking.
It was okay after a quick smile from a guy wearing sunglasses
And melting my worries away in the sauna.

I scribble the pen in my hand,
my hand seizing
as it drags the tip across the whiteboard,
forming my name
in perfectly rounded cursive.

Scratching through it,
until I leave it blank
like it never happened.

Treadmills

I can change
the speeds,
but I will always increase
in time and distance.

A seemingly endless
track of rubber
energized by electricity,
worn out by the steps
I and those before me
have already made,

But I can choose
to get off
and stop.

I just haven't decided
how or when
I will get off.

The Moon

The Moon

The clear winter skies leave room
for the bright shine of a full moon

It lights up the road before her eyes
so that she does not have to drive blind

The moon makes up for the lack of street lights
on this abandoned country dirt road

and just like the street lights do on the city alleys at night
gives her the feeling that she is not alone

with the passenger seat empty she’s feeling grim
because she can no longer sit next to him

But she keeps on driving and follows the moon
in hope that she will be home soon

You fall down the stairs

you **** really loud
oh well, nobody will remember this in 20 years

you cry in front of everyone
oh well, nobody will remember this in 20 years

you get yelled at in public
oh well, nobody will remember this in 20 years

You fail a test
oh well, nobody will remember this in 20 years

You get rejected
Oh well, nobody will remember this in 20 years

you stutter during a speech
Oh well, Nobody will remember this in 20 years

See these are all embarrassing situations,
don’t fret, this won’t be remembered for many generations
don’t cry, just put on the breaks
and laugh at all your silly mistakes
