"I'm yours now. You can do whatever you want to me."
I didn't even know what to say,
I never did,
I was still shocked you could want anything to do with me

You said you had hopes for us,
But what hope was there?
We had no direction, no plans,
We just plodded forward hoping this foundation we built could brave the trials of winter

I've read that soulmates can come together and apart just as easily,
A tragic scenario to be certain,
And if that's the case,
What is a soulmate but a reminder that love is eternal agony?

I do still love you,
Love is,
It's become like breathing,
Autonomic

I can't even remember life before this,
What it was like to be absentminded,
The loveliness of ignorance,
Oh how I would gorge on its sweetbreads

But this is simply life now,
I live in flashbacks and moments,
I love ghosts and candied words,
And I drink the liquor of empty hopes
She paused from our kiss
Took a breath.
And I opened my eyes.
I saw her,
Taking it all in as she held my face
She quivered.
I smiled,
That's when I knew
She was enough.
Dearest Ana when I look at you I see how skinny you are,
You told me I could look like my favorite movie star,
I thought you were my friend,
But you were really trying to make my life end,
I lied to my friends and even my family,
"I already ate"
The truth was I just threw away the food on my plate,
I was so mislead,
You wanted me dead,
I would step on the scale,
You would make me feel as fat as a whale,
You made my soul black,
I want my old life back,
You told me I just couldn't handle it,
I might as well quit,
But I couldn't stop,
I couldn't walk on my feet,
I couldn't even eat,
I'm losing my confidence,
Please bring back my common sense,
I used to love fries,
But now I may die,
Today is the day my heart stops beating,
Today is the day I stopped eating.
Ten cents to a dime that this tired heart of mine
will keep beating in time to her tune and
very soon we will be
in complete harmony.
Because,
she said so.

Sana
I met you
In my dreams
I kissed you
Even though
I was not for you
Nor were you for me
One time upon a dream
In school
Looking through our literature book
At the poetry selections
I always liked the ones by
Carl Sandburg
Because they looked and read
The least like poetry
I didn't like poetry back then
With it's sing song meters and
Pregnant metaphors
I was just a kid
I like poetry a lot more now
Though I don't understand too much
I know enough to think a lot less of
Carl Sandburg now than I did then
Which is no reflection on Sandburg
I'm sure I'll eventually come back round to him
Blackbird oh Blackbird
Where is your proud song
I heard you sing in the sixties
Aren't you still downtrodden and all

Have you grown complacent
Did they clip your wings
I marched with your Fathers
They wouldn't hear of such a thing

Why was it they suffered
If not for the chance to be free
They had their eyes on the future
Is this what they wanted to see

The cage that contains you
The latch is on the inside
Blackbird in you is the power
To take freedoms ride

Blackbird oh Blackbird
Where is your proud song
If you'll sing it again
This time we'll all sing along
I give you all my
skin my hair my
flesh and my bones
Wasting no time
you bring test tubes
to change me into
something you like
