Happy is the journey
The one and only goal
Reaping what we sow
All we've built up can be lost
****** into the undertow
Lets ride to safety
Hand in hand
You my woman, me your man.
Together forever
Until our last stand
Winter, summer, spring, and fall
We'll show them,
We'll show them all!
It's fight worth fighting for
A shared and common goal
Let's take a risk, let's take the leap
After all, you never know.
Written for a special someone
If I saw a mountain, I would climb it, until I reached it's peak
With a drive to stay alive and prove to myself I'm not too weak
Battling self doubt, playing fair as not to cheat
Casting aside all of my flaws, none that I would keep
Scaling the walls to gain perspective, if blindfolded I'd still peek
Protecting secrets and all slander, Holding back with tongue in cheek
Chasing after unrealistic goals,
Whether too high or way too deep
Burning all my bridges, the only option left to leap
With no courage left inside me or the faith I ought to seek
Mustering up enough resilience
To separate the normal from the freaks
Gushing perspiration, soaked from head down to my feet
Drenched and sweating bullets, so much that I thought I sprung a leak
Words too often come without action,
It's plain knowledge talk is cheap
Eminem has nothing on me, I'm a lyrical freak. A prodigy with no vocabulary just because I think it's neat.
If you promise not to hurt me
I'll give you all I have
Don't you dare desert me
That'll only make me mad

Never break the circle of trust
It will merely make me angry
When in doubt, shout out loud
You know that drives me crazy

Turn in your keys when you're done
Be sure to lock the door behind you
Take all of your belongings
I ought not have to remind you

I'll be waiting with open arms
For your anticipated return
Nonjudgmental looks of censure
Only unyielding concern

That you return back to me safely
Unscathed or worse for wear
Humbled, yet aware
Till our love is mended and repaired

I've only ever aimed to please you
Bring you joy where there was none
Day to night and night to day
Under moon, the stars, and sun

I promised to provide for you
Protect you from all harm
But nothing ever seems to go as planned
It's what gives life it's charm

Mutually agreeing
No battle to be won
No making up excuses
What took forever to get done

There's a sensible explanation
Why things are the way they are
No boundaries or obstacles
Could make me feel I've gone too far

The end from our perspective
Maybe a minute, week, or years
It's unknown what's in store for us
Don't be suppressed by fear

Spread your wings and fly my bird
Embark on dreams set way too high
As you soar up into the open sky
Happy you're alive.
Darkest of the dark
Sleekest of the sleek
Loveliest of the lovely
Deepest of the deep

Spin to win
Rest assured
Mocking bird
Mocking bird

Built it's nest
It flew, it soared
Wasn't easy
More a chore

Confident?, sure
Why, what for?
What's expected
Still unsure

Rising sun
Sinking moon
Hour late
Still too soon

Draw your gun
At high noon
Single living
Gloom and doom

Life and death
What's the score?
In the spotlight
Still ignored

Rotten apple
To the core
War!
And nothing more
And nothing more.
I like to rhyme words and sometimes it's revealing. Even if it isn't really all that appealing.
Lying in wait
Prone to stagnate
Unfulfilled dreams
It's never too late

I sleep not
For I am awake
Immersed in frustration
Time to create
Not procrastinate

With eyes open
Feeling deflated
Hardly elated
Don't hesitate
To Reevaluate

Rise up from bed
Set the engine to rev
Idle instead?
It's all in your head

Lying in wait
To Regurgitate
The ideas in your brain
Manifest to inflate
The cognitive state
Invent a gimmick, solution, or trait

Should I reiterate
For the duration
Due to inflation?

Remember this date
No time to debate

Today is a gift
Isn't that great?
Not a moment too soon
Must have been fate.
This seems to pretty much sum it up for me, I don't know about you. I took a strange roller coaster ride to the finish on this one.
I'm having an affair with words
They take away my breath
Words tell me what I need to hear
Without missing a step

Words work on my emotions
I'm transcended by their displays
There's legitimate anticipation
Within each and every page

When I look away for too long
There is a longing that takes place
The wonder of conclusion
Vanished, without a trace

Words help me to liberate my own ideas
In the subtlest of ways
Or when my faith seems in doubt
I am enlightened by a phrase

Their sense of humor is unequaled
Words teach us and inform
They can be as cold as ice
Or soothing, kind, and warm.

Words hold many of life's answers
To questions that we seek
When written, we can convey
Much more than when we speak

Words empower, words are strong
They help decipher right from wrong
Words can guide you,
Lead you home
Words are your friends
When you're alone

Words can help, or they can harm you
Depending on their use
Words can fool you, or misguide you,
Lie, or tell the truth

What I love, are words' transparency
Written right there in black and white
If misconstrued, words can lead to tragedy
Although the stories' plot is trite

We must take part in the mastery
Of each and every words avail
So that the notions we wish to ration out
Are nothing but...
The finest of detail.

Precision personified
Never at a loss for words
Or ****** with a mouth for war
That's when devastation's heard

Instead, a calming smoothness
Inspiration from inside
This, in my opinion, is the greatest use of words
And the peak of humanities pride.
This writing was an extension of a poem I started many months ago. I truly made a valiant effort to express everything I felt about what writing, and being able to write, means to me. If I didn't accomplish the feat, I did manage to come close. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
I cannot right the wrongs.
The tragedy and heartbreak
Of the fallen that are mourned
A history of evilness
Since man has come along.

I think, but do not do
For fear I'll speak the truth
About the reason men have died
Protecting you from you

We are what we see in others
Our beliefs and way we live
Taking from the takers
Giving just to give

Only when it is convenient
When it suits us and feels good
Having love for thy neighbor
In someone else's neighborhood

Positivity has left me
In turn I fear the worst
If history repeats itself
Then we are inevitably cursed

Since the days of cavemen
Every battle fought and "won"
Has led to severed bloodlines
A father to his son

Taught to love or hate
The monsters we create
To hurry up and wait
And showing up, way too late.
Recent worldly events and the sad state we are in, was my inspiration for this poem.
