Today I criticized someone
about something
they had said or done,
and their character
that seemed to be
of content that
did not agree
with right and good
that I could see,
but then I turned around
to find
that those same traits
resembled mine,
yours truly
that's right
me.

you came bearing words
a transparent heart
                      you said
bombs of love
exploding my defenses
gifts i embraced until
                      you drifted
memories flooded in
of betrayals past
i'd been there before
drugging narcissus
                      you played
further on my resonant soul
strummed to fine pitch
your favorite guitar
till bored with the tune
                      you cut
all the strings
i adjusted to silence
relished my gains, but then
                      you returned
to play me some more
and that's why
                      you see

i've bolted this door
"Forgiveness involves a heart that cancels the debt but does not lend new money until repentance occurs."
~ Dan Allender, 'Bold Love'
The boards creak and moan
from time and poor carpentry
The nails gripped by aged wood
have become crust collected and
shrunken to form

The bare walls once displayed
the smiling faces
of past eons but now
there are only the faded remnants
of square foundations
of lives that once
hung on the wall

The stairs complain
like an old man
from unsubstantiated fears
The second floor
seems solid only responding
to the remarks of my shoes

The old bedroom
once the center of attraction
overlooks the buckled sidewalks
and **** infested yards
of a street that now has no cars
or people passing by

I stand in silence for the moment
and the moment stands silent for me
And for that moment
I lay in time's eternal graveyard
in hopes of reviving dead dreams

In grandeur, a leaf of grass is no less high
Than all the glittering stars in the sky

There is beauty alike in **** and reed
When each fulfills Nature’s need

Thus the low and the high in equal glory stay
When their respective roles, they fairly play

With the focus of perception turned to levels transcendental
Everything would appear exponentially beautiful!
