I told the world I'll be alright,
The headlines bleed these lies tonight,
I'm putting up a pretty good fight,
Against another teenage controversy.

People don't need to know my name,
The life story or my desire to change,
Or why I feel so ashamed,
Of a broken mind and an urge to leave.

Mum had told me I'll be just fine,
But it is only a matter of time,
Before I step across the line,
And find my sanity behind prison bars.

I love photographs,
They can capture what you were,
And lie to the world.

Confession time,
Where's my priest?
When I was little I had it all planned out.
"In the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, Amen.
It has been six months since my last confession and these are my sins."
I fought with my family.
I swore.
And I lied.
That is what I said for seven years.
I loved to throw a wrench in the machine.
When I was fourteen I added in a little tid bit to my routine.
"I am gay".
It was the longest pause I had ever heard.
And then it went completely ignored.
How rude of me to try and provoke you, father.

Sweetest summer day,
How I feel— she'll never know,
Words get in the way.

I am the woman of your dreams
You are the lover of the night
But there's something about you
Something I just can't describe

I just don't know anymore
Am I losing my sense of mind?
I've just never felt this before
Your love has made me blind

Not as strong as I once thought
Because now, I'm in love
With the man
I only wanted
To ******
I guess love
Truly bites
When you

Didn't want a battle,
Yet you declared war,
Each knock you gave me
Made me stronger than before,
I will not give up,
I will not give in,
You won't make me fall,
I won't let you win.
A short poem may be a stylistic choice or it may be that you have said what you intended to say in a more concise way. Either way, they differ stylistically from a long poem in that there tends to be more care in word choice. Since there are fewer words people tend to spend more time on choosing a word that fits the subject to perfection. Because of this meticulous attitude, writing a short poem is often more tedious than writing a long poem.

Another night curled up in a ball,
Feeling broken, unfixable,
Thinking of ways to stop it all,
Behind a forced smile to stop the tears fall.

Feeling guilty and so ashamed,
I only have myself to blame,
But everyone else is the same,
Turn a blind eye and ignore my name.

A doctor's appointment is so last year,
Barely there to tame the fear,
Pushed those away who were always near,
Just so I know where I am going from here.
