I thought they were kidding when they casually
proclaimed the stars that night spectacular

now, faced with a crowd of relative strangers on a learned rooftop seeking
solace in the sky, I know what they knew then

that each day, night, moment, nuance flickers once
and burns out, though light continues

and when the darkness smothers me in night, walking halogen-bright streets
I run for my pen

You've gone and gotten a new
coat now, and why?

the old one was just fine.

with its patchwork holes and
zipped up stories (never would
tell) it might be

less exciting to wear out and
about perhaps, but far more
comfortable

All I know beyond
a flicker of a flame of a
doubt is that, for whatever
inexplicable reason, you are
fascinating

and each and every day, every
moment with you brings new
light into the equation

so bring on the days and
build up a lifetime

Bounty snatched and safely stashed
         Bare the yielded land
Fringed wilderness displays her wares
   Palms open outstretched hand

      Tawny millpond stubble seas
         are lifted wave by wave
  Mechanically exposed, tossed over
     Broken, pummeled flat again

     Cool the calm September days
Winter clothes as yet we shun
Creeping through our summer weave
Dead men's fingers tell of what's to come
a feathered message
for us today..
a hidden songbird capacity
for learning then forming
a song out there..

in our parallel plane
a gifted capacity to speak
but first a language
to learn
with toil and sweat..

the songbird and we
it now seems
at once are
creator and creation
a mutual stimulation..
becoming our song...

Honeybee am I, of this enchanted valley,
eclectic and crazy, exquisite blooms gift me honey,
keep it handy for you, in honeycombs I craft,
*taste a drop or two, in your smile I rejoice!
Tonight
i went to a birthday party
that's what i did today
spent the night feeling my age
and watching the children dance
seeing some romance
that's what i did today.

i
asked
myself

what would you be
if you were not yourself
what do you
think you would be
i would like to be a
STAR
up there so far maybe only seen at night
by lovers
or by intelligent others
then i would be something
and not just me.
