Like a bird, caught inside of its nest,
Struggling to break free, but all that happens is a puff of the chest,
Rain comes, pours an overwhelming amount of cool breath upon you, until you just can't take it anymore,
its when the head is down, so close to defeat, that the heart finds strength, and continues to beat,
Though your foot is caught, and it will be a hell of a struggle,
Onward, with great intentions, you attack the ****** trap with passion,
It *****, the fight through the wounds hurt, but the end result is flight, freedom, and the ability to roll around in all that dirt.

This is for those who like truthful comedy,
This is for those who find amusement in humility,
This is for those who want to become billionaires, without a friggen’ care,
This is for you, who likes to stand-up on the internet but don’t take an actual step outside your door,
Just wondering who is going to supply your food?
Just wondering who is going to clean your home, while you’re out making your dough?
Just wondering who watches your children, whose personality they will have instilled in them?
Just wondering how much money you paid for someone else to live your life for you?
How did we become so ignorant, blind to our surroundings, and unwilling to see through the boundaries?
Whose idea was it that we would consume more than we could handle, and how was that quantified?
Why do we still value you these ideals whole-heartedly?
I mean, look around you, everyone might be arguing… but can you find all those commonalities?
We have traded skills for bills, wallets for intelligence, and phones for relationships,
We have ignored our human needs, in order to fulfil some invisible person’s greed,
No different than the religious views that divide us, these people we don’t know enjoy out profits and still despise us,
And no matter the anger that we share towards this system, we allow our differences to control our true power,
Funny, how are children are becoming poorer than the last generation before them,
Hilarious, how we all panic when the grocery store closes for just a couple of unusual hours,
Amusing, how we all hope that someday when we’re old we will finally be done dealing with these ‘daily struggles’,
Only to find ourselves locked up in strange homes, on the news getting abused by people who aren’t our loved ones,
We hold these fantastical exceptions over those who are different from us, in age, gender, location, or belief system,
We presume that we know what is best for all others, and yet have ignored the advice of those who came before us,
Like the Cree legends of over consumption, or the basic indigenous rule of Natural Laws of being respectful of other lives and surroundings,
Our science and technology have come so far, yet we still cannot find connections to the very planet on which we were born…
What a comedy act, you truly cannot write this stuff up,
People all struggling against the same encroaching tide, can’t hold each other’s hands because they might get wet,
Those who want everything work so hard to get it, then end up with no one around them to share it with,
We sacrifice life all of the time, even though we aren’t doing the actual physical killing, our dreams, relationships, and habitats are what we are losing.  – E.M.
Nothing will ever be ‘alright’, not the day, nor the night..
There are better words that we could use to describe our time..
If only we could appreciate it as much as we do these fun rhymes..
No amount of ‘really’s or amount of ‘stuff’ will ever be enough…
Because either we’re enjoying our precious moments, accepting changes as they come..
Or we’re upset over others being upset, and while everyone is yelling, still no movement forward gets done..
We all share more than our small and often simplistic differences…
From the fact that we all have bodies and need air, to the fact that we all have but a small amount of fresh water to share..
These commonalities could become catastrophic, and for many they have been for years…
The reasons we protest, crying for our shared futures, as outside forces make uneducated choices…
I believe there are far more descriptive words that we could be using for this time…
Legends have spoke of a great change, along with it a lesson for the world…
Those great teachers came, in the form of our youngests, and are loud with their tears and messages to share..
During this time many fight, while others observe, as is their duty to watch and preserve..
The road forward will be difficult, as things need to come undone before they can be rebuilt…
But buried like seeds, the collective army of ancestors have kept their word…
We are all part of the great change, the fire breathing bird…
Setting a blaze to the old, in order to rebuild the new…
Our description for this time is hard, but necessary, and it’s a duty that is shared..
Because we are all leaving someone behind, relative or friend..
Because we are all connected to each other, and to this land..
Because we see the problems that no one has taken ownership on..
Because personal responsibility is a fundamental part of belonging to the great mother..
Because in our heart, we are supposed to care for one another…
This is why we need to find the right words to describe this time together.
No lesson should be forgotten, as our indigenous ancestors have reminded..
The stories and legends are needed, as they help guide us all through..
So as we make peace with our troubled past and difficult passage..
And make sustainable progress towards the future..
Let us not forget how far we have come, alone, together, and united. – EM
