bloodstains on my hands say
countless times have wounded her
yet she loves me to this day
weeps on my shoulder!*

You don't remind me woman
each time I stroke your hair
of the times I act a hurting man
of all the times I've been unfair.

Rather you hide all past scars
cover up my stinging bite
pretend things could be worse
thank god it turned all right.

You don't remind me woman
when I hug you tight
of the times I act a hurting man
bare to you unmanly might.

Rather you hide the flicker of pain
smile away my sins of past
pretend things would be same again
thank god in me you trust.
(Never underestimate the power
Of the gift of giving a flower)

You can't fail her
with a bright dahlia
With it's perfect symmetry
Caress her nose
With the scent of a rose
And a cup of Earl grey tea

Make a daisy chain
For her flowing mane
And rub her tired  toes
Treat your filly
To a glorious lily
And a day of sweet repose

Surprise her at the station
With a bunch of carnations
And hold her hand for a while
Make things swell
In a field of bluebells
That'll surely bring a smile

Get down on one knee
With some lovely peonies
And look deeply into her eyes
The sight of an iris
Could fill her with such bliss
If you take her by surprise

You could please her
With some pink freesias
And a well planted kiss
If the romance slips
Choose some bright tulips
The thought won't go amiss!
Just wishful thinking really! Haha! As you can probably tell I love flowers and I thought of this when sitting opposite a man with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
What makes you happy? I asked little kids,
Their parents or sweet candies?
In a flash the kids reply,
Oh, surely, the candies give them joy.

What makes you happy? I asked teenage girls,
Their friends or a dress with curls?
In a flash the ladies reply,
Oh, surely, the dress gives them joy.

What makes you happy? I asked a young sonny,
His health or big money?
In a flash comes the fellow’s reply,
Oh, surely, money gives him joy.

What makes you happy? I asked married couples,
Romance or children’s chuckle?
In a flash the couples reply,
Oh, surely, children’s chuckle gives them joy.

What makes you happy? I asked old people,
Candies, dresses, money, or children’s chuckles?
In a flash the wise respond,
Oh, surely, of these things they were fond,

But,
with candies gone and dresses worn,
Parents passed and friends lost
Money blown and children grown
Health weak and romance bleak
Life has taken a sudden turn;
Happiness means not being alone.
