My Disability
Drew Blanton Mar 2016
My disability doesn't define me.
It doesn't matter what you see.
What you learn matters,
And hopefully your prejudice shatters.

The Lateness
Drew Blanton Apr 2017
I sense the lateness of the hour,
And I long for that sleeping power.
I want to sleep in my bed,
And hopefully I won't end up dead.

Birth of the Lord
Drew Blanton Dec 2015
We must celebrate the birth of the Lord,
Not the gift of a toy sword.
That's Christmas's true meaning,
Not a commercial screening.
I;m sure Santa Claus would agree;
He works for God, you see.
Saint Nicholas is his real name;
May our celebration and his be the same!

Loving You
Drew Blanton Jul 2016
Loving you
Is what I want to do.
If you don't try to control me,
You'll see
I'm a good guy
By and by.
This poem is based on my unfortunate experience with my last girlfriend.

Narrow Road and Wide Road
Drew Blanton Aug 2017
When I was very young,
I came upon
two roads.
One was narrow,
and the other wide.
I knew most people
would take the wide one,
so because I'm a rebel
I took the narrow one.
That road led to
a treasure.
What a difference!

Don't Pity Me
Drew Blanton Apr 2017
Please don't pity me;
I really don't need it, you see.
In all the cities
Nobody likes the pities.
Pity parties stink;
They're not even worth a wink!

Yes, indeed!
This is
indeed

Meditative Prose
Drew Blanton Aug 2016
This is
meditative prose.
It is
according to
Jean Vanier,
anyway.
Jean Vanier is the man who founded L'Arche, about which I have an acrostic poem on this website.

Mean Versus Nice
Drew Blanton Jan 2016
Mean isn't the way to be,
Even if you need to ***.
People must be nice;
Please don't make me say it twice.
Being nice is the way of love
Which is from above.

I thought you

Normal Is Everything
Drew Blanton Apr 2018
Normal is you.
Normal is me.
Normal is everybody.

Hello
Drew Blanton Aug 2016
Have a hello,
Not a bellow.
Be a friend
And don't rend.
Be cool
Instead of cruel.
Be aware
That other people are there.

Welcome to the North Fourth Art Center.
Please try not to get a splinter
From touching the art,
Although it may touch your heart.
Our art's so colorful,
And that's simply wonderful.
Our gallery alone will testify that
The words of my poem aren't flat!

Happy
Drew Blanton Dec 2017
Happy is a good way to feel
Because happiness is so real.
If you could spend your life being happy,
That would really be snappy!
In Heaven I believe it's really that way,
And you'll always have a good heavenly day.
