Peer pressure, peer pressure

My name is peer pressure,
My father is doubt,
My mother is duress,
My sister is bad choices,
My brother is nervous energy

I was born in a cyclone of negativity
Whipping through an ocean of people
They're the tribe of the unrest
I know im extremely unwanted
But im here anyways at all times

Peer pressure, peer pressure
Is my name
No one is immune from me
Neither the young, the teen nor the old

I'm evil
I wreak havoc and strife
To the human race

I ruin people's lives

First,
I offer illusions of enjoyment
And pleasure to them

Till when
I take their greatest
Treasure

Till when
I see them departing
From all that is correct

Till when
No more goodness nor kindness
Is detected from them

Till when
Their morals and goodness
Have gone into decay

Till when
I see their senses sedated
And all their energy depleted

Till when
I see them

Till when
I see tears of regrets
Turn into cries of despair

Till when
I see there is nobody
They can turn unto

Peer pressure, peer pressure

Is my name
Those who grant me to their lives,
I make sure i become
A silhouette of lies to their lives

Till when
They're always

M-i-n-e

Frozen in time
Hopeless forever

Till when
I see them
Completely gone astray

Furthermore,
Pile on the agony
For that is pleasing
To my father Satan

A Moment in Life Twice Lost to Time
The Swiss watch is my paradigm
Residing now ‘neath Tampa Bay
A moment in life twice lost to time

The gift, from a wall of ice to climb
In Luxembourg where I did stay
The Swiss watch becomes my paradigm

Research belaying the banker's crime
Through valleys green, o'er bridges grey
A moment in life twice lost to time

While belching diesels share their grime
And church bells call all souls to pray
This watch, my truest paradigm

In this city from another time
In Europe's heart I found my way
A moment in life twice lost to time

Returning from this land sublime
My walls and battlements fell away
Rodania watch, my paradigm
A moment in life twice lost to time

2 March 2000
This poem was my first, and to date only attempt at a villanelle.  The watch was a birthday gift from a doctoral candidate for whom I was acting as research assistant, which I lost years later, sailing in Tampa Bay.

I have read this in public but this is the first time it appears in print.

Nevermore
If

Nevermore
If
If Dawkins were right
And faith is a farce
A human construct
If Nietzsche were right
And man has outgrown God
As a child outgrows his toy
Then all this
Hemming
And
Hawing
Would have all been in vain
All ****** folly
And this time could have been put
To better use
Courting you
And we would be
So very happy
Together.

~

Yet if the scriptures were right
And we are spirits made flesh
Having appointments with divine destiny
Then you are but a thought
A temptation
Testing me
An exaltation against His knowledge.
A boon you are not
But a bane.
And I am to nail it all
To the foot of the cross
Just as how I am to nail my flesh,
My sinful nature,
To this altar.
And in Him
Shall I find all-transcendent peace.
For putting the Kingdom first,
Shall I receive His best.

That is,
If.

I don't feel like doin' anything
I don't feel like writin' a poem
I miss my bed, I want to go home
I don't want to move, I can't lift my bone.

I'm too lazy to think of words
My fingers cannot even write this verse
Not moving an inch would be worse
Oh I want to eat something, where's my purse?

I don't feel like goin' outside
I don't want to eat my meal tonight
I don't want to think and decode this byte
I'll sleep, watch movies, eat popcorn... bye.
I really feel lazy while listening to Bruno Mars' lazy song.

She bit my lip.
That was her thing.
Not the best dance of my life,
Though maybe the dirtiest.

But she got scared,
Left me alone.
I don't need her now,
No, not anymore.

Behind dumpster,
In the alley,
We pulled down our pants,
She got on top of me.

*** on gravel,
My **** not hard,
She understood I was drunk,
Said, "Let's go somewhere else."

She could have come,
Yes, to Portland.
But she was young and dumb,
I'll find better tonight.
P.S. didn't find better that night...

For the love of God
Make yourself easily
Remember Casey.
Call the kid
Heaven forbid
He should get too racey.

These are fun to say again.
