THE GATHERING OF IDIOTS.
Dada Olowo Eyo Nov 2018
But how else can one explain,
More or less, with disdain,
Frolicking with your oppressors?
Taking selfies with suited emperors?!

At a loss for how quickly we forget,
The many tyrannical years of enslavement,
The ****** of the motherland on a budget,
Killing brilliant minds for continued enthronement;

And fifty-eight years down the poverty line,
Not one thing learned at all,
Only to bow, grovel and crawl,
To a shameless monarchy, cruel and devilishly serpentine.
Just a few weeks after the PM visited that unfortunate country, the Prince Of Wales and duchess of Cornwall visit their erstwhile colony. And it was ridiculous seeing traditional chiefs and celebrities kissing their ***** as though they had come to share salvation. Sheer stupidity to pander to the same people that have set in motion an unending cycle of continuous enslavement via proxies. SAD.

Looking at the heart wrenching image,
Moved my whole being to tears,
Laying lifeless, bloodied,
Entry wood to her temple;

The husband craddling her head,
Tearfully looking down,
At the love of his life,
Never again to cheer his home;

She left the home that morning,
To oversee elections,
To serve her fatherland,
To contribute her own quota;

But all she got,
Was a bullet to her head,
The robbing of her life,
Abrupt end to an unfolding story;

Two children have lost their mother,
Parents have lost their daughter,
Sibblings have lost their kin,
And a husband his confidant;

Would she like many others,
Be a little statistic,
Some unfortunate incident,
Lost to unending callousness?
A woman was killed while working as an electoral officer in one of Nigeria's bloodthirsty states in 2019 elections. She has left two children and a husband. What's next? SAD.

Don't let me go...
Dada Olowo Eyo Feb 2013
Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

I do all these nasty things,
Hurt myself, the Spirit; and think it's cool,
I revel in delights of this world,
Swim in the stank depths of useless mess;

I break your laws,
Everytime I open my mouth,
The same whenever I step outside the door,
And keep going at it,
Like a raving lunatic;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

My eyes are open but do not see,
My ears are wide but do not hear,
I am not dumb but never speak love,
I am not lame but never walk in righteousness;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

The Spirit awakens me,
Takes me down the narrow path of redemption,
Tells me there's hope for me yet,
If, only, I accept, His goodly hand!

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you;

Don't let me go,
Oh, my Lord,
Don't let me go,
Dear Lord, I cling to you!
