Her mind
was a universe
of  juxtaposition...
  
love  hate               heaven  hell
peace    war
  passion  apathy       beauty  ugliness          
fantasty reality
happiness        melancholy
freedom captivity     strength weakness
innocence and guilt

It travelled back and forth
and
sometimes
her albatross was a
perpetual quest for balance
but
other times she was certain
she wouldn't want it
any other way.

All the while, all the ****** while,
she stood there, waiting for me
to unlock the gate in the wall
But I was the fool, you see, 
to think I held the key
For all the while,
the prisoner
  was me, 
not she

She laughs, as bright as day
She mourns with the passion of ocean waves

She giggles, with the pitches of a child
To be returned with glances and mild laughter

She takes each hand,
Gently squeezing in return

She understands and accepts
All that happened and will happen

Only hoping that someone will notice
. . .

I put my love in the letters I sent you.
The words, they are not shallow.
But, just don't look too deep into them
For you might drown.

Stuck between the metaphors
Dancing in those threads
