Sedoo Ashivor
Colours and shades, ink and hue
Pen to paper, my thoughts renew
Often red, sometimes blue
The colours I see, when I think of you.
Thank you for that one line, Mfena Ortswen. You're a gem.

I just recently learnt of a neurological phenomenon called synesthesia. Those affected can see colours when they hear words, others even say they can taste the colours on their tongues!
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is ******, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

gentle yawn
of the rose bush

a sleepy
afternoon
secret

in the garden
of velvet whispers

wry smile
of a vestige moon

stirs a daisy
meadow

watercolor dreams

upon
a wind-soaked
hymn

CA Guilfoyle
In the spring of warm grassy lawns, silver threaded
song sparrows high amid the bright lily bowers
they fly gold drenched in the morning hours
in the deep peace of this sanctuary shelter
we are far from the city's maddening swelter
here beneath shade trees and roses, we sip tea
we float soft as petals, a dream life in these hills
smell the ocean rain, blue the way the sky spills
we walk scented jasmine trails back home
come to rest in each others arms
before this resplendent day is gone
with nature becoming one
connected to all things
we are never alone.

this poem
is not about you

even though
your spirit is in every word
your voice sounds strong
in the halls of my mind
telling me things
I am now sure
I want to know

this poem is
about me

trying to understand
you

How can I forget
Those crumbs
Ghee tricking
From between
Your untired fingers
I remember
You would cuddle me
When at sunbeams birth
I would scurry
To recite English Alphabets
And when at my comeback
Rhymes sailing in the mind
And on lips leaping
Yes at the door at dusk
You would shout at my play
Oh I had got my leg sprained
But that was the best cure
How careful wrapping in the quilt
Whenever the chill fanned
And she put me against
Her thumping chest
Where are those days
Where is she
Where am I
They are at home
She is in the kitchen
I am on the rollicking chair
I would I had dropped in your days
My son my dear my heart

I see you walking through gardens
Every footfall a flower growing
Hyacinths and crocuses
Roses blood red in color
I see you in the garden
That began all humanity
All the love
Inside of me

I see you traipsing in the night
Your hands creating stars
Dust becoming light
Which shines onto my soul
I see you flying in the darkness
Your hope becomes my dream
Love divine
On angel wings

I see you dancing in the rain
Your hair wet with emotion
Your heart beating into me
So that I may feel
That my battered hands may touch
Your skin a broken cloud
Creating life
Inside of me
Maybe its not meant to be understood. Still I know one will understand it
