beth fwoah dream
cloud of dark
skies, where
the hollows
of the night
unwind
their
flowing
streams,

boy, you
make me feel
alive,
i am your
dream,

unravel
the stars at
my feet,

push me
against a wall,

burn into me
like mist.

Won't you sing for me,
Sweet singing bird
It's been so long
Since I thrilled to the trills and warbles
Of your living song
This confused and bruised winter
Has defied nature's logic
So, set the world to rights
And sing for me
To remind me
That I'm part of something
That still remains wild
And vivid

These winter trees
cold and shouldering winds
their bending branches unhinge
falling limbs crash and break the snow
further still a secret world of mud and bulbs
that in the spring blooms of tulips and violet mossy lawns
and too, the sun that comes to warm and fills with green the tree arms
this wooded home that breathes with sheltering birdsong.

Snow falls on the Bradford pears today
As I sit in this window
like a store front, deranged maniquin
Watching..
Those trees look like clouds
White, fluffy
But they can never float away
Tethered to the earth by roots and trunks
If one were to try and cut them free,
they would surely die

I think of the way snow flakes cover each already white, bloom
Like they're making love, after a long parting
Only to part again with the change of season
A chance encounter, between the blooms, and flakes
When the clouds scatter and the moon shines,
The flakes kisses will sparkle on the petals
and make love in a new way~A
overcome by woollen mills,

things on a window       sill.

it may seem,my friend, that I move a
little differently                  than others.

it does seem, my friend that the day
was so good,       i am overwhelmed.

with everything.

he said he can uplift my carpet

whilst    sounding very biblical

it is quite practical.   the notice

indicated that I could        pray.

maybe not this day.

ICE
I dreamed of two men
cold as ice in dark hats
handcuffing a woman
before tossing her in the back
of a black barred truck
with stars on the sides
and a To Protect and Serve
bumper sticker stuck like
a punchline and a baby girl
and young boy were crying
standing behind the yellow lines
but two has never been
a number that adds up to
nothing because it's only legal
to pass one at a time in these
dark days of executive orders
you fear because you know
it's all the evidence they need
to make you disappear.

To age and die
Natural, beautiful
Meant

But for her,
Lain waste to no clock
Only her smile has turned ashen,
Pale,
For what to smile about
When all whom she loved,
Is long since past?

She sits under the Bradford pears
Watching the snow of white, falling petals
Remembering a hundred years ago
When the old downtown was new
The streets were dirt and brick

She remembers a warm August day
When she watched them paint a Lady
on the side of a new, brick building
To advertise Tuxedo Tobacco
A good day then

She goes there still, to look at that Lady
Even the mural gets to fade
But not she

She faces
