Dont Fall in Love with Me
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
I am flighty and I am free.
I can fight the tide
But it cannot resist me.
Fancy things and diamond rings
Hold to me no fancy, you see.

A domesticated, standstill life
Is not a life I crave.
There is a vast, inviting sky
In which I must soar; and I implore
To you, please do not stand in my way.

Don't fall in love with me.
I'm young in heart and mind
And I'm old in soul, you'll find.
Don't fall in love with me.
I'll only break your heart,
I'll cloud your mind
For this soul is destined
To wander until the end of time.
Don't fall in love with me.

There was a year when
I believed in a man.
But that love was then,
And I am alone now- free to roam.
A new adventure starts soon as one ends.

I am selfish, to be true.
Always chasing my dreams,
Leaving behind others like you,
I soar and I fly-
Tears of sorrow in one eye,
Tears of joy in the other.

Don't fall in love with me.
I'm young in heart and mind.
I'm old in soul, you'll find.
Don't fall in love with me.
I'll only break your heart (not your fall),
I'll cloud your mind
For this soul is destined
To wander until the end of time.
Don't fall in love with me.

I have warned you, to be fair:
Don't fall in love with me.
*You'll see.
I wrote this after losing someone I love. I want to move to my homeland in another country. He wants to live his life here only.

To My Baby
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
My Sparrow, my olive branch,
May you soar above me
To heights unfathomed.
Hold my hand, dear child-
My baby.
If you can, take me with you.
Otherwise, carry me in spirit.
My Sparrow, my complete peace,
My everything.
I will clothe you in moonbeams
And wash away your fears
With the dawn and morning dew.
Your feet may never
Touch this harshly trodden earth,
For my enraptured love
Will lift you to meet the stars.
There we will dance and laugh,
For sorrow cannot follow
Me and my Sparrow.
Peace is where you are,
And happiness holds no bounds
When I'm with you-
My baby, my Sparrow.

Rotting Souls
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
Flight of the still
is the most
impossible.
Can a statue be moved once it
sits happily-
content to flake,
satisfied
in its moss drape.
The stench of sloth
blackens lungs.
Souls left to rot...
Can we be still?
Do we dare?
If not free will,
then what do we have?
What are we?

Tea for Two
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
If life with you is a cup of tea,
my love for you is the leaves.
The longer I'm in your life
the stronger my love will be.
I don't need the richness of honey
nor the sweetness of cream.
You are the water that fills my cup,
and your company,
your love,
is all I will ever need.
Life with you
is a delicious cup of tea.

Untitled
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
I want new eyes.
Eyes that can see souls
are eyes that could save the world.
I am no ordinary girl,
but whose entire being can be told
when the flesh is a monstrous disguise?
No beauty that is seen
can compare to the unseen,
under the skin.

I Am
Carolyne McNabb Jun 2016
I am not my keeper,
and neither is the world.
My spirit is a wandering vessel,
a sword with no handle.
I am a wildfire.
A suffering world is my fuse.
I am a lone yellow flower,
mimicking that which helps me grow.
I have never been a calm sea,
for I am a storm where no wind blows.
I am an earthquake
and I shall hold my ground,
and stay grounded in me.
I am fierce.
I am proud.
Call me as you may,
still I have no regrets,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made this way.
