And then

Escape in a Poem,
freedom unchained

Words come alive,
distant sirens renamed

Brevity conquers,
all urge to refrain

As magic unfolds
—the present reclaimed

The doctor
said,
"6 months
give or
take".

Spoke to me
like it was
my healing
time.

Like,
I would be
as good
as new
in 6 months.

In a way,
I guess that
he will be.

Ink is thicker than water
Ink just lasts a little longer

A line in the dark
A line of light

A permanent scar
Not a permanent life

Rite of passage
Or open wounds

Closed doors
To open rooms

A layer below your skin
The needle goes deeper within
