He said facing me
" I love you because you never lie"
but my back
  tells the story
    of many lies
      & many nights
          looking for love
             living a lie

Mother

Red ardent lips ignite a passion of makeup in the young boy,
Porcelain skin,
Shiny blue eyes
that is the reflection he wishes to see
as he writes his name on the imaginary lit up marquee
he is a star

Mother comes in,
Then comes the box
Darkness
No sounds
Oxygen fades
Is this okay?

Breath
Fresh air
He breathes again
& through all the beating, the box and the pain
The boy is star
So why
Oh why
Mother can you not see
the real
real
me

. . .mother please. . .

Listless Romantic
A Poet Apr 2020
I am a listless romantic,
Still waiting for romance with a fairy tale ending.
Time is cruel, and vanity fades.
Still I sit and wait.

Lackadaisical,
My looks now lack decadency and my fashion has fallen out of taste.
Time is cruel, and age grows.
Still I sit and wait.

Cleary romance is but whimsical dreams and one must not rush in haste.
But time does not forgive, time does not see the beauty in the personality
Time is restless, angry, vibrant and a toxic lover
It takes a piece by piece of me.
Yet still I sit and wait.

Never knew pleasure, never knew the human touch.
Cling to false hopes that society has not lost reasoning, discernment is for looks and not “me”
Little did I know I was a dreamer, love is false, love is fake, love is based on illusion and myth.
I did not know how to play the game, I was not born to love, I was not born to touch, I was only born to sit and wait.

Breath becomes still
Now he comes to me
In my sleep, maybe finally I can find that love
As still I wait. . .

Every moment was a falsehood,
"I love you" is "I hate you" masked with wanting ; its cheap makeup.
With his life ending, his last thought was remorse.
Remorse for time wasted, cheap words, and you.
Oh! sad little clown! "I love you" on the marquee,

Give me your hand, give me your love.
Give me your hand, while we dance in purgatory.
An insignificant event, a moment in time.
Maybe five minutes, that is all we will be.

Qualm my steady heart in this dance together,
a simple reminder of each second that passes muffled by heartbeat,
While “our” song plays, “our” insignificant song.
Maybe three minutes long, that is all we are.

You gaze into my eyes, and I peer in your soul.
Our names become lost; they no longer matter.
For our love, song and dance are lost in time,
