Museum

Returning to My hometown,
I wander into the museum,
It's been a long, long time.

Stuffed animals in glass tanks,
Exactly as I remember them,
Trapped in time,
I've changed, but they haven't.

A school visit comes to mind,
We all Stood and stared
At Nelson the lion,
Now I stand alone,
Looking once again.

Nelson is a firm favourite with visitors of all ages. Originally from the South Cape in South Africa, Nelson is thought to have been a model for the lion sculptures in London’s Trafalgar square.

The chess of spirit

The spirit's board, a chess of silent grace,
Where goals, like pawns, find their appointed space.
Invest like rooks, in wisdom's sacred lore,
Mindful as bishops, what paths to explore.

Like queen, a heart that counsels, serves, and mends,
A gentle nurture, where true kindness blends.
Control your knights, your senses wild and free,
No overreach, in silent dignity.

Each day a gambit, new and bright unfold,
Accept the check, where patience makes you bold.
Forgive the captures, learn from every snare,
Humility's white king, beyond compare.

Black and white it seems, the boxes we stand
It's good, bad, all moves can't be preplanned
So with time, make the best of it
A soul is its very own mate.

Universe, you’re listening, right?
Hear my words, my heart’s light.
Whispers carry, thoughts fly,
Reaching you, up in the sky.

There's a supreme glow, day’s bright,
I’m a mountain, standing tall,
Strength within, a guiding light,
Good things coming, one and all.

Growing taller, breaking free,
Thoughts like winds, wild and free,
Flowing with them, finding peace,
Changes coming, I’m at ease.

Superpower, belief in me,
Greatness waiting, you see?
I’ll achieve, with all my might,
Belief’s my compass, guiding light.

Universe, just a part of me,
Empires rising, wild and free,
Power’s mine, I’ll take the lead,
Destiny awaits, I’ll succeed.
